Why April 2nd Is Such a Big Deal in Disney World

April is a month full of change in Disney World. TRON Lightcycle / Run is opening, the 50th Anniversary celebrations will have just finished, and Rodeo Roundup BBQ will be welcoming diners.

Happily Ever After

In addition to this, we are saying goodbye to two nighttime spectaculars. But, the replacements might just be something you’re familiar with!

During the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebrations we welcomed in Harmonious in EPCOT. This show features impressive floating set pieces that live within World Showcase Lagoon, including custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights and lasers, and pyrotechnics! Harmonious also uses massive 25-foot tall LED screens and 54-foot long moving arms. All of these pieces come together to create epic lighting displays that pair with classic Disney songs (in over a dozen different languages, no less).

Harmonious

However, with the ending of the 50th Anniversary celebrations, Harmonious will also be ending to make way for a special 100th Anniversary show. The last performance will be held on April 2nd, 2023, but Disney hasn’t announced when the new 100th Anniversary show will premiere (or what it will be). For the time being, EPCOT is welcoming back a familiar face — EPCOT Forever will be returning on April 3rd! This show will have a temporary run to fill the time until the new 100th Anniversary event arrives.

Over in Magic Kingdom, another 50th Anniversary show will be holding its last performance on April 2nd, 2023. Disney Enchantment, which debuted along with the rest of the 50th Anniversary celebrations on October 1st, 2021, is an immersive production. This show was the first time the special projections extended from Cinderella Castle and included facades on Main Street, U.S.A. Of course, this show has plenty of fireworks and a rousing Disney soundtrack to go with the amazing display!

Disney Enchantment

If you’re going to miss this show, the current replacement might cheer you up. Popular nighttime spectacular Happily Ever After is returning on April 3rd! Not only will the beloved show grace the streets of Magic Kingdom once again, but Disney promised all-new projections, including similar immersive displays on Main Street like they debuted during Disney Enchantment. If you’ve missed Happily Ever After, be sure to get your park pass reservations in for its return!

Whether you are planning on catching these departing shows’ last performances or are eager to catch the returning ones, make sure to get your park passes reserved soon because we anticipate them getting booked up quickly!
