Do you dream of boarding one of Disney’s cruise ships and magically sailing away?
If you’ve been on a Disney cruise, have you ever wondered what the creation of such a massive, beautiful ship entails? We’re right there with you! An all new National Geographic documentary airs on Disney+ soon, and it will answer all your questions. (Plus, if you’re anything like us, it’ll have you looking at cruise options for a vacation right away!)
Making the Wish: Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship airs Friday, February 17th, on Disney+! This documentary shares the realities of creating a cruise ship from scratch, the magical resilience of the human spirit, and the endless planning that went into the creation of the Disney Wish during the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Geographic Film Producer Chad Cohen said, “We worked hard to not make this an advertisement.” The creators of the film told us at a media event that they worked hard to have this documentary instead tell a story of magic, work, and the human spirit and its ability to endure throughout a pandemic.
Follow along on Disney+ to see the creation of the Disney Wish from start to finish — from when the ship was nothing but a wooden model, to the selection of fabrics, to the risky sea trials that the crew and filmmakers endured, and finally to the Wish’s maiden voyage.
We enjoyed this documentary and can’t wait for you all to watch it on Disney+ on February 17th. If you’re looking for all things Disney news, make sure to follow along here for updates.
