Are you ready to BRING the heat? Seriously, you’ve been warned. We’re heading to Disneyland Resort for our second festival of the week (yep, because we already did the whole EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival).
Now, we’re at the 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival and there is a LOT to take in. From now through April 25th, you can take in some delicious food and drinks, check out some fun entertainment, and more! We’re heading over to the Peppers Cali-Ente, which we hope is as spicy as its name.
Menu
Over at the Peppers Cali-Ente booth, you’ll find some delicious peppers-inspired food, like a Chile Relleno Empanada and a NEW item, the Camerones a la Diabla.
Even the drink available here, the Cantarito-style Paloma, is infused with a pepper flavor!
Eats
We grabbed the new dish here, the Camerones a la Diabla, which is made with Spicy Shrimp with California Chile and Cilantro Rice for $8.50. In case you needed a translation, “la Diabla” translates to “She-Devil.” And that is a VERY accurate description for this snack!
This is HOT. We thought the sauce was overpowering so much that we couldn’t really taste the shrimp. It just mostly tastes hot. Like seriously, have your Tums ready if you eat this one. The rice was good, though, and the cilantro didn’t overpower it.
You can also get the Chile Relleno Empanada with Arbol Pepper Salsa featuring Cacique® Oaxaca and Cotija Cheeses for $8.50. We had this last year and loved how flaky and crispy the empanada was with the ooey-gooey cheese on the inside. This one has a LOT of flavor and was a favorite last year.
Let’s take a look at drinks.
Drinks
The Cantarito-style Paloma is also returning this year for $15. It’s made with Reposado Tequila, Habanero-infused Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice, Rock Melon Syrup, and Fresca, garnished with a Pineapple Wheel and Chile-Lime Seasoning.
If you like spicy margaritas, this one is for you!
Overall
If you have issues with spicy food, do NOT visit this booth because you’re going to get the kind of hot that will set your mouth — and stomach — on fire, especially if you order the Camerones a la Diabla, which is more heat than flavor. However, the Chile Relleno Empanada may be a better choice because it’s got the heat AND the flavor.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
