Disney Genie+ can be incredibly complicated.
Between changing rules, unique tricks when it comes to modification, and the 120-minute rule, it’s enough to get your head spinning. But there’s another Genie+ complication you’ll want to know about and be prepared for.
On a few occasions, we’ve seen Genie+ SELL OUT at Disney World, and now it has happened again! Early in the morning on March 15th, Genie+ was available at the highest price it has hit in Disney World so far — $29. But when we checked around 3:30PM, Genie+ had SOLD OUT.
We are reaching Spring Break time in Disney World when kiddos from around the country make their way to the parks with their parents to take advantage of the vacation time. So perhaps it’s no surprise to see Genie+ selling out today, but it’s still a very important thing to keep in mind.
If you wait too long to buy Genie+, you do run the risk that the general service will totally SELL OUT and be unavailable for the day.
Our advice? Buy Genie+ as soon as you can (or at least as early as you’re willing to wake up). The service generally becomes available to buy at midnight on the day you’ll be visiting the parks.
And remember that Individual Lightning Lanes (pay-per-ride options) can sell out too. When we checked the system around 8AM on March 15th, Lightning Lanes were still available for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ($12) and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ($17), but they already appeared to be sold out or at least not available (at that time) for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Avatar Flight of Passage.
Pay-per-ride becomes available to purchase at 7AM for Disney World hotel guests (and those at select other resorts) and park open for all others. If you want to make sure you secure those pay-per-ride selections during peak busy times (like this) you might want to consider staying at a Disney World hotel to get that early access.
