Aladdin seemingly misstepped when swinging from a rope during Monday night’s performance of ‘Fantasmic!’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, causing the character to crash into the mountainside rather than landing on the ledge for which he was aiming.
In a video of the performance shared by TikTok user @_disney._stuff_, Aladdin can be seen fumbling in the air before crashing hard into the side of the center stage mountain. The cast member didn’t appear to be moving on his own and may have been unconscious after the collision as he swung back toward his starting mark, still holding onto the rope.
The lights were quickly dimmed at Hollywood Studios and the rest of the 9:30 p.m. Fantasmic! performance was canceled. There is no official word yet on the cast member’s condition.
During this scene, “One Jump Ahead” plays as Aladdin jumps off the mountain to avoid capture by market vendors and guards. Ordinarily, he lands safely along a ledge of the mountain and appears alone a moment later, singing the “They’d find out there’s so much more to me” line from the reprise as stars glitter on the mountain.
Fantasmic! returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this past November. You can watch a full video of the performance below.
