Animal Kingdom has some of the best snacks in all of Walt Disney World, and I’m going to share my favorite spots with you today. Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery and Tamu Tamu Refreshments. The bakery has climbed its way up my list recently. I first ate here during Hispanic Heritage month to try the empanadas they offered. On that day, I fell in love with the walk-up dining location. They provide more than just empanadas, so let’s break down the menu before jumping into another great snack stand.
Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery
Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery offers breakfast daily until 10:30 A.M., then switches to snacks. As of writing this, they have two flatbreads and an empanada dish on the menu.
Flatbreads
Marinated Chicken Flatbread – Marinated chicken topped with cucumber-tomato salad, tahini sauce, and greens served with house-made chips. $10.79
Marinated Pork Flatbread – Marinated Pork topped with cucumber-tomato salad, harissa aioli, and greens and served with house-made chips. $10.49
Empanada
Impossible Empanadas – Flaky Latin dough filled with plant-based picadillo. $9.99
The empanada dish comes with two and a side sauce that is out of this world. These are the ones that came out during Hispanic Heritage month, and they kept them on the menu. That’s how good they are. I have seen people order flatbreads, and they look so good. So if flaky empanadas aren’t for you, get the flatbread.
Tamu Tamu Refreshments
Just a few steps away toward the front of Africa, you’ll find Tamu Tamu Refreshments, and this is another excellent snack spot, especially for DOLE Whip fans. They also serve breakfast here in the mornings. This is where you can get a colossal Mickey cinnamon roll; it sounds delicious. As for snacks, you can find unique DOLE Whip combinations.
DOLE Whip Menu
Scar’s Lair – DOLE Whip pineapple and sour apple. $5.99
Simba Sunset – DOLE Whip pineapple and strawberry. $5.99
DOLE WHIP Pineapple Float – $5.99
DOLE Whip Pineapple Cup – $5.29
Not DOLE Whip
Warm Brownie Sundae – $6.79
Tamu Tamu Refreshments also has alcoholic DOLE Whip creations, and they are labeled as desserts with alcohol. The liquor they use for these treats is Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, so if that’s something you enjoy, these drinks are perfect for you.
