EPCOT is the latest park at the Walt Disney World Resort to have its silver entry tapstiles upgraded to gold. All guests entering through the International Gateway entrance will pass through the new golden devices.
The tapstile replacements seem to be for aesthetic reasons only, as we did not notice a difference when tapping in with our MagicBand. Magic Kingdom upgraded its annual passholder entryway to include the new golden tapstile back in November. EPCOT has upgraded every entryway for all guests who enter through International Gateway.
The tapstiles function exactly the same with the golden replacements. Guests can scan their MagicBand near the Mickey-outlined puck for the green light and then scan their fingerprint to gain entry into EPCOT.
As the 2023 International Flower & Garden Festival kicks off, there is plenty to see and do this week at the park. If you’re not impressed by the new tapstiles, you should check out all of the topiaries that have arrived for this year’s festival.
