Major Perk CLOSES at a Popular Disney World Hotel

MAJOR changes are happening at Disney World hotels!

BoardWalk

Refurbishment work has been announced for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village, Narcoossee’s will reopen soon at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and even the iconic lobby at the Grand Floridian is getting some updates. At Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, many other changes are underway including changes to the rooms, lobby, and surrounding area. And now we’ve got another update.

Back in mid-February, Disney announced that the Concierge Lounge would be CLOSING at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn starting March 11th, and now that closure has officially begun (as of Sunday, March 12th). This closure is set to last until the end of April but there is currently no exact end date.

Closed Concierge Lounge

Disney has warned that guests may be able to hear some construction in the surrounding areas during the day, but nighttime work should be limited to things that are not audible to guests in their rooms.

If you’re unfamiliar with concierge lounges, here’s some background! The Concierge Lounge is a perk reserved for Club Level/Concierge Level guests. It’s an added luxury for those willing to pay the higher cost of these rooms.

At a concierge lounge, you can usually find nice chairs to relax in, and complimentary snacks and beverages. Generally, you’ll find a continental-style breakfast (this can be pretty substantial for those who normally eat a lighter breakfast), light snacks in the afternoon, and wine and cheese offerings, as well as desserts and cordials in the evening. And yes, some adult beverages are included too. Some of the food might even include hot samples from the resort’s restaurants.

Club Level Breakfast Pastries

Some of the offerings might be lighter than what you’d want for a typical meal but can still serve as a great way to fill up until your next meal and for those with smaller appetites, these snacks could replace a light meal.

Plus, complimentary drinks can be an easy way to grab a bottled drink you can bring into the parks with you (rather than having to spend money on buying a drink in the park).

Fridge stocked at breakfast

A few different hotels have concierge lounges, including Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and others.

Is a concierge-level room with access to the concierge lounge worth it? It depends! Concierge-level rooms can be substantially more expensive than a standard room. When we looked at some sample dates for June of 2023, a Garden View room for 2 at BoardWalk was $458.38 per night, while the standard room Club Level was $663.50 per night.

If you think that the food offerings at the concierge lounge could easily replace 1-2 meals for your family per day and you’ll make full use of eating there and taking advantage of those perks, then the price could be worth it. But if you’ll really be spending every day from early morning to late night in the parks, you might not get as much use out of the benefit. It really depends on what YOU like.
