At Hollywood Studios, there is always something to explore. From restaurants like Rodeo Roundup BBQ that just opened to galaxies to be explored at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there’s something around every corner. If you haven’t been to Hollywood Studios lately, we got you covered!

On our recent trips to Hollywood Studios, we found a lot of new merchandise as well as some important decorations coming down! Let’s take a look.

We are still watching the construction around the mysterious building at the Toy Story Mania exit. When we learn more about what this is going to be, we will let you know!

The future of Disney World and the Reedy Creek Improvement District (now called the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District) is starting to take shape after the board held its first couple of meetings.

The new, Governor DeSantis-appointed board appears to be more focused on fighting Disney rather than working with them, and members have shared that they may need to adopt an “adversarial position” against the company. Now, Disney has responded.

It seems the new board is considering challenging agreements made with Reedy Creek’s old Board that were approved before the takeover. One of those things is a Developer Agreement that “set in stone” Disney’s rights over the next 30 years, regardless of what the new board says or does.

This agreement was unanimously approved by the previous board on February 8th — the day before the Florida House voted on the bill that changed the future of Reedy Creek.

Per the Orlando Sentinel, “The agreement allows Disney to build projects at the highest density and the right to sell or assign those development rights to other district landowners without the board having any say, according to the presentation by the district’s new special legal counsel.”

The new board has hired multiple law firms to look into “potential legal challenges for matters involving the District that occurred under the prior board of supervisors and that may involve the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. and its affiliates and subsidiary and related entities.”

Legal counsel hired by the new board indicated they only recently found out about these agreements, despite them being approved in public meetings. Counsel continued by calling the agreements “unusual,” “suspect,” and “unlawful.”

Now, according to Bob Hazen with WESH, Disney has responded. The statement reads:

“All agreements signed between Disney and the District were appropriate, and were discussed and approved in open, noticed public forums in compliance with Florida’s Government in the Sunshine law.”

So, while the legal counsel for the new board indicates they didn’t have any idea about the agreements, they were discussed and voted on in a public meeting in accordance with Florida law.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this situation as it seems like Disney could be in for a lengthy legal battle. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest!

Most people don’t realize that Disney cruises are a literal treasure trove of character meet-and-greets!

Disney Cruise Line boasts an impressive lineup of characters to meet onboard the ship but if you don’t know where to look for them on Castaway Cay you could be missing THESE characters?

Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island that most Disney Cruise Line itineraries make at least one stop to visit while on your sailing.

There are so many incredible things to do while visiting the island like the Castaway Cay 5K, snorkeling to find hidden treasures, and getting your grub on at Cookies BBQ outdoor cafeteria and most people don’t realize another great opportunity that they probably walk right by or shuttle past.

So fun!

At Disney’s Castaway Cay character meet and greets are peppered throughout the day visiting the island, and we’re breaking down where you can catch up with your favorite pals like:

• Mickey Mouse
• Minnie Mouse
• Donald Duck
• Daisy Duck
• Pluto
• Goofy
• Chip & Dale
• Capt. Jack Sparrow
• and on occasion: Captain Hook & Mr. Smee

Mickey on Castaway Cay

If you’re looking to catch these characters out on the island, you’ll want to be familiar with a few key locations!

Mount Rustmore

Here’s where you need to be on the look-out:

• Castaway Cay Post Office
• Dig Site
• Mount Rustmore
• Cookie’s BBQ
• Summertime Freeze Drink stand
• By the dock in the afternoon & evenings

Occasionally you can find Mickey Mouse hanging around the Dig Site to snap a few photos in passing. Mount Rustmore — which is one of the most picture-esque locations — typically likes to rotate one of the fab 5 characters throughout the day. Chip and Dale like to hold dance parties right by Cookies BBQ. The cool hangout of choice for Olaf is Summertime Freeze Drink Stand. And as you’re wrapping up your fun-filled island time, alternating characters will be close by on the dock ready to welcome your return to the ship.

You’ll also want to pay close attention to themed sailing nights like pirate’s night because you may even get a rare opportunity to meet with the characters in their own pirate costumes!

All ashore! Disney Cruise Line is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, having first taken guests on a magical sailing through the Caribbean way back in 1998. And as part of their Silver Anniversary at Sea sailings to commemorate, they have revealed special new costumes for both Mickey and Minnie!

The Disney Parks Twitter account today showcased the new costumes, which both have a light blue and white color scheme. Mickey and Minnie both have a white captain’s hat with a wave design across the front. Mickey has a glittery multi-tone jacket which transitions from aqua blue to sea foam green in four stages. His pants meanwhile make that transition more gradually, coming together as an ombre pattern.

Minnie meanwhile has a seafoam green jacket and white dress with aqua blue streaks near the bottom. Her classic pumps are also aqua blue.

Guests can experience the Silver Anniversary at Sea during select sailings, which also includes a second evening of fireworks, special new food and drinks, exclusive merchandise, and much more!

When I visit the Walt Disney World theme parks, I am always searching for new snacks and updated menus. Recently I poked around in Fantasyland, looking to see which locations have the best snacks. You might be asking, what are the qualifications for a food item to make this list? For me, the snack has to be unique; it can’t be another Mickey Mouse pretzel or basic French fries. The snack has to look like the culinary team actually gave it some thought.

As I snooped around Fantasyland, I found some standout snacks, and I also had to include two basic snack spots that I think everyone should try if they can. Let’s dive into it!

The Friar’s Nook

Nestled between Princess Fairytale Hall and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, you’ll find The Friar’s Nook. Here guests can order anything from creamy bacon macaroni & cheese to bratwurst and tots covered in cheese. They also serve a plant-based bratwurst too!

This dining location is a walk-up window, and as of writing this, they still accept Mobile Order here. Sometimes finding a place to eat at Magic Kingdom can be stressful, but a walk-up window like this makes it easy to grab something and keep going.

Storybook Treats

Right next to The Frair’s Nook, there’s another walk-up snack location, but this one offers sweet treats. If you aren’t in a savory mood, hop on over here and satisfy that sweet tooth. Here guests can find the Heigh-Ho Sundae, the Snow White Cone, and the Seven Dwarfs Specialty Cone. If these themed desserts are too much for you, they also have a basic strawberry sundae, a hot fudge sundae, and floats.

Okay, friends, bear with me. This next part is where we will be discussing the “basic” treats. I highly recommend checking out the location above, but be sure to check the operating hours on the My Disney Experience since they can change. As of right now, The Friar’s Nook closes at 5 PM, and Storybook Treats closes with the park.

Cheshire Cafe

At the edge of Fantasyland near the start of Tomorrowland, you’ll find the Cheshire Cafe. Guests can order Joffrey’s coffee here, along with a few treats. This is where you find that Instagram-famous Cheshire Cat Tail. Before developing my food allergies, I indulged in this sweet treat all the time. Another fan-favorite can also be found here, the Pepper Jack Pretzel. A new menu item is the Merry Unbirthday Cupcake, and the description is very interesting. This is a sprinkle-filled birthday cake-flavored cupcake with tea-infused buttercream. Question, would you order that cupcake?

Gaston’s Tavern

I know this has been on everyone’s list since it opened. I only ever ate the cinnamon roll once, and I can say it’s worth it. If you are getting to Magic Kingdom early in the morning or your travel party wants an early evening sweet treat, this is a great place. It’s important to remember that they do serve more than just the delicious roll covered in icing. They offer a sandwich that consists of ham, provolone, and swiss and sounds fantastic. If you are looking for something sweet but not a cinnamon roll, they have a Pluto dome cake with peanut butter mousse and a chocolate ganache center on top of a chocolate cake. Sounds delicious.
