TRON Lightcycle Run Not Accommodating Late Boarding Group Arrivals for Virtual Queue, Despite Erroneous Estimated Callback

TRON Lightcycle / Run soft opened at Magic Kingdom ahead of its official grand opening on April 4, 2023. Only guests who have purchased individual Lightning Lane access or snagged a virtual queue boarding group can ride the new attraction. Unfortunately, the callback time for the virtual queue can change significantly and Disney isn’t accommodating late arrivals to the attraction.

TRON Lightcycle / Run entrance sign in courtyard

Guests must arrive within their assigned one-hour time slot to be allowed on TRON Lightcycle / Run. The My Disney Experience app will show an estimated callback time before guests are actually called. While waiting, guests are free to ride other attractions.

However, callback times have sometimes been two hours earlier than quoted. We and other guests have encountered this. Meaning, if you’re doing other things or maybe aren’t even in the park yet (if you signed up at 7:00 a.m.), you may miss your window because you thought you had more time.

Individual Lightning Lane and virtual queue have been filling up quickly during the soft opening period, which has reduced hours. Guests can sign up for the virtual queue at 7:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. The individual Lightning Lane price has been high, although not the highest, at $20 per person.

See our guide here for step-by-step instructions to purchase Individual Lightning Lane.

As of today, two attractions at Magic Kingdom offer the option to purchase Individual Lightning Lane access: TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

TRON Lightcycle / Run is located right behind Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. It’s outside the park’s berm, and is housed in a sweeping white canopy, which helps hide a boxy show building. A walkway between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus is also available.

Guests enter by walking under the canopy, known as the Upload Conduit. Upon uploading to The Grid, guests will join Team Blue in a race to cross through eight energy gates before the opposing Team Orange.

As you approach the entrance, there are two TRON ride vehicles to the left. They serve two purposes – so you can try them out and know what to expect when you get inside, and they provide a nice photo op.

We previously reported that some individuals have reported issues with being able to fit into the ride vehicles, so this is a great place to try them out and make sure.

There are double-sided lockers before the load area so guests can safely stow their personal belongings. Lockers are unlocked with MagicBands or plastic ticket cards; MagicMobile tickets on smartphones do not work, and guests without physical ticket media must request a white RFID card from Cast Members.

For the past few weeks, Disney has been conducting previews of TRON Lightcycle / Run, with Cast Members and Annual Passholders getting the first chance to experience the attraction. We were fortunate enough to experience this highly anticipated attraction during the Cast Member previews.

You can check out a full look inside TRON Lightcycle / Run in our ride POV below, and read our review of the attraction here.
