Universal Destinations & Experiences has filed several trademarks potentially for Epic Universe attractions. Epic Universe will be a new park at Universal Orlando Resort and is expected to open in summer 2025. Though only Super Nintendo World has been confirmed, rumored lands include a Universal Classic Monsters land, How to Train Your Dragon land, and a third The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Orlando Business Journal shared the new trademarks Universal filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. They are mostly for the Universal Classic Monsters and How to Train Your Dragon lands.
Universal Classic Monsters:
Dark Universe: OBJ notes that “Dark Universe” was a canceled series of Universal Monsters movies. This could be the name of almost anything, including the official title of the land.
Curse of the Werewolf: Perhaps a Universal Monsters attraction.
The Oak & Star Tavern: Likely a restaurant.
How to Train Your Dragon:
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: This could be the official name of the land.
The Untrainable Dragon: Universal Studios Beijing has a “How to Train Your Dragon” stage show called “Untrainable” and a stage is under construction in the rumored Epic Universe land.
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders: This could be the name of the “How to Train Your Dragon” roller-coaster.
Fyre Drill: This could be a water ride.
Dragon Racer’s Rally: Maybe the name of another “How to Train Your Dragon” attraction.
Constellation Carousel: A carousel is pictured near the center of the park in concept art.
Just because Universal filed the trademarks, doesn’t mean they have to use these names, so things could always change in the future.
Assuming that the rumors are true, Super Nintendo World is at the bottom left, Classic Monsters land is at the top left, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is at the top right, and How to Train Your Dragon is at the bottom right. The dual-racing coaster is between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and How to Train Your Dragon but not part of either land.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be inspired by Place Cachée, the Parisian version of Diagon Alley seen in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” Construction photos reveal a version Porte Saint-Denis, an arched gateway built in the late 1300s in Paris. The Wizarding World ride, however, will transport guests to the U.K. Ministry of Magic.

By now, you’ve probably heard the term “metaverse” tossed around a time or two — and it’s something Disney has even dabbled in. The future of Disney is all about cutting-edge technology with the merge of technological and physical experiences, from rides and attractions to accessories and more in Disney Parks — or at least, it was.
The membership program was designed to integrate “customer data across multiple Disney platforms, including streaming service Disney+, online retail operations and smartphone apps” — like the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps.
Prime
Essentially, people would pay for a membership that packaged “streaming, parks, and merchandise offerings together,” along with other special perks. Disney created this initiative in an effort to better link its products and services in the parks and “real world” to the digital world.
But, with the nearly 50 job cuts just made to this department — Disney’s Prime-like membership program is no longer moving forward.
Main Street Train Station Disney World
Despite Iger’s interest in the metaverse, pressure from investors to tighten the spending on nonessential businesses likely had something to do with this decision to eliminate the department and place focus and resources elsewhere.
As of now, Mike White remains at Disney — though details on what his new or future role will be have not yet been shared.
These job cuts come just after Bob Iger shared a memo with Cast Members indicating the layoffs would begin this week — but this is just the start. A second round of job cuts will be made in April, with the final round of cuts expected to happen before the start of the summer.
Iger shared, “The difficult reality of many colleagues and friends leaving Disney is not something we take lightly. This company is home to the most talented and dedicated employees in the world, and so many of you bring a lifelong passion for Disney to your work here.” He offered his thanks to those who will be departing the Company.
We have seen some of Disney’s most advanced technology in the parks including at Rise of the Resistance and in Avengers Campus where there is a flying Spider-Man animatronic. But Disney has been talking about things beyond theme parks including NFTs and the metaverse, and now we’ve got a major update on the future of the metaverse at Disney.
Part of these layoffs includes the team of about 50 members on the next-generation storytelling and consumer-experiences unit. This is a small part of the company where employees were working on developing a metaverse at Disney.
Former Disney consumer products executive Mike White was the head of this division, however, he will remain with Disney in a new position. This new role is still unclear.
If you’re wondering what the metaverse is, USA Today describes it as “a combination of multiple elements of technology, including virtual reality, augmented reality and video where users ‘live’ within a digital universe.” Disney had shared plans about a Disney Theme Park metaverse that would mix visually enhanced physical reality with a virtual space.
Although Chapek had described the metaverse as “the next great storytelling frontier”, Iger did have some concerns about the project. He warned that toxic behavior could be an issue due to the amount online already and pointed out that monitoring these things is something that Disney will have to take into consideration.

One of the big winning factors for Roundup Rodeo BBQ is the atmosphere, but we’ll admit — there are some other restaurants in Hollywood Studios with cool themes as well! Dining at 50s Prime Time Cafe is like taking a step back in time and heading into Oga’s Cantina really makes you feel like you’re a scoundrel in a Star Wars movie. And don’t even get us started on the super fun drive-in movie theme of Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant!
Sci Fi Dine-In at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
If you love Toy Story, Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land is also a great option. It’s themed to look like Andy’s lunchbox was busted open, and there are chairs made out of Babybel cheese and pencils holding the lid open. So creative!
How cute is this?!
But honestly, the theme inside Roundup Rodeo BBQ is done SO well. You can really tell that the Imagineers put some deep thought into how a child would design a restaurant, and literally everything looks like it was crafted by little hands. From the character play sets to the crayon drawings to the thumbtacks and pencils holding everything on the walls…it’s impressive.
A Peek Inside Roundup Rodeo
And not just that…the restaurant also has some fun hidden details. There are 14 hidden Mickeys, 2 hidden Oswalds, and 2 hidden tacos spread throughout. During your meal, various characters will come over the restaurant’s sound system to make announcements, and when they announce that Andy is coming, all the toys (your servers) freeze in place. How cool is that?!
Atmosphere
Disney Imagineering really flexed with this restaurant theme, and we left our meal feeling wowed.
Food
But what about the food? Hollywood Studios isn’t exactly known for being the park with amazing food, but there are still some delicious table service meals at places like 50s Prime Time and Hollywood Brown Derby. Both of those restaurants have been some of our favorites in the past.
50s Prime Time Cafe in Disney World
On the other hand, it’s pretty easy for Roundup Rodeo to surpass spots like Sci-Fi Dine-In, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and Hollywood & Vine — all restaurants that have fairly basic food options that don’t stand out.
Goofy at the Springtime Dine
At Roundup Rodeo BBQ, you get to eat family-style, and the cuisine is barbecue. You’ll get a platter of meats as well as your choice of four sides (out of eight), plus your choice of dessert. There are some really delicious sides and meats among the choices, so you can end up with a stellar table depending on what you choose.
FOOD!!!
So for the food category, it’s a great spot if you have some varying palettes in your party, and it really just depends on what you’re craving. That’ll affect your restaurant choice since our top three picks all have very different menus.
Value
Finally, we have to talk value! And that means, we’ve got to mention the price. Roundup Rodeo BBQ is $45 per adult and $25 per child, so it’s certainly not cheap.
Howdy, Partners!
If you want budget-friendly, you can grab some pretty good grub at a few of the quick service restaurants — ABC Commissary, Woody’s Lunch Box, and Fairfax Fare (with their menu of waffle bowls) come to mind as good options. At each of those places, you’ll get decent meals for less than $15 per person.
ABC Commissary
Among the table service restaurants, it’s one of the pricier options, BUT it’s only one of two all-you-care-to-eat restaurants in the park. The other choice is Hollywood & Vine, which is a buffet and a character meal where you’ll pay $59 per adult for lunch and dinner. So when you compare it against that restaurant alone, Roundup Rodeo BBQ definitely has better food (in our experience), and the price is $14 cheaper per person.
Salad and fruit bar at Hollywood & Vine
However, Roundup Rodeo doesn’t have characters in the restaurant (except for the cardboard ones), so you’re paying a heftier price for a non-character meal. On top of that, it’s a multi-course meal, so you’ll want to account for the fact that it’ll take a good chunk of time out of your day. You’ll likely be here for more than an hour, and maybe close to two hours.
Just the cardboard ones!
If you’re okay with the longer meal and the price point, you can get some serious value out of this meal. Your server will refill your sides and meats throughout, and we were able to order more sides and desserts (besides the ones we initially picked) after our first round. You can try a LOT of food. You won’t leave here hungry!
The menu
So all in all, Roundup Rodeo BBQ ranks definitely in the top Hollywood Studios restaurants! It might even be the #1 option if you’re a Toy Story fan, love family-style meals, or just want some good barbecue. We had a blast during our visit!
