In honor of the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, CITIZEN is donating Mickey Mouse clocks to schools and other community institutions in Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri.

CITIZEN hosted a donation event on March 16 and entered a year-long partnership with the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. The official timekeeper of Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort donated Disney Citizen Mickey Mouse Clocks to Walt Disney Elementary, Father MacCarten School, Marceline High School, Marceline Early Learning Center, and more.

On June 3, 2023, D23 is hosting a celebration in Marceline that will include CITIZEN dedicating a clock at the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. Here is the full list of what the event includes:

• Motorcoach transportation for the round-trip journey from Chillicothe, Missouri, to Marceline
• Special presentation and Q&A with Bob Wilson, retired CEO, COO of Retlaw Enterprises, the Disney family’s private corporation
• Lunch at your choice of one of Marceline’s local restaurants
• Access to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum
• Ability to explore various parts of Marceline, such as the Marceline Post Office, Walt Disney Elementary School, and other locations on Main Street
• Access to a clock dedication ceremony, from CITIZEN, at the Walt Disney Hometown Museum Garden
• Visit to the property of Walt Disney’s former family farm, featuring live music and a hometown dinner
• A commemorative gift created exclusively for this special occasion

The event will last from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. D23 Gold Members can purchase tickets for $350 each on the D23 website.

Next time you head down to Disneyland, there’s two delightful new choices in Minnie Ear headbands you can find to accent your day at the Happiest Place on Earth! In the Emporium today, we found a floral “Moana” headband, as well as a new Disney100 ear headband design.

Moana Ear Headband – $34.99

This new ear headband prominently features faux flowers at the front, rather than the traditional bow of a Minnie ear headband. Flowers of orange, purple, and pink are accented by green leaves.

The back gives a clearer view of the ear design, which is the same on both sides and on both ears. Traditional Polynesian designs featuring geometric patterns, waves, fishes, and large waves cross the ears horizontally. These designs are often seen in tattoos particularly, which in these cultures often depicts personality, rank in society, and status.

Disney100 Ear Headband – $44.99

These ears are largely made of a faux leather material and very prominently show off the Disney100 spirit being in all-silver.

A Minnie bow sits at the center, also made of faux leather with Art Deco-esque patterns running throughout. A Disney 100 medallion shaped like a Mickey silhouette sits at the center, with fireworks bursting in both ears.

On both ears, designs of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale, Donald, Daisy, and Tinker Bell are all randomly printed throughout along with starbursts, fireworks, and the Disney100 logo. The characters are all depicted in their special costumes for the anniversary previously seen in other Disney100 merchandise lines.

No particularly special designs are on the back side other than more printed characters.

A new SpongeBob SquarePants Loungefly mini backpack and wallet have arrived at the Hello Kitty Store at Universal Studios Florida.

Both the bag and the wallet feature SpongeBob’s house, the famous “pineapple under the sea.”

SpongeBob SquarePants Pineapple Loungefly Mini Backpack – $85

The SpongeBob SquarePants Loungefly bag features a large “pineapple under the sea” on the front, which also doubles as the bag’s front compartment. The door to the pineapple opens up to reveal SpongeBob himself. If you look closely at the back of the door, you can see there is a magnet there that will allow it to stay shut when you’re on the go.

The side of the bag features a pocket with the Nickelodeon and Loungefly logos on a plaque. Below the plaque is an image perfectly depicting the personalities of Mr. Krabs and Squidward.

The back of the bag is decorated with an image of SpongeBob and Patrick engaging in one of their favorite pastimes — riding jellyfish past Squidward and SpongeBob’s houses.

The straps of the bag fit perfectly with its theme. They are designed to look like the outside of a pineapple.

The other side of the bag features SpongeBob’s closest friends: Sandy Cheeks and Patrick Star. Also pictured is Plankton doing what he always tries — stealing the Krabby Patty formula.

The zipper pull is SpongeBob’s pet snail, Gary.

The wallet has the pineapple house on the front, with its leaves sticking out of the top. The door on the wallet doesn’t open.

It unzips to reveal an accordion of card slots decorated with images of Spongebob and his friends.

The other side of the wallet has the Nickelodeon and Loungefly plaque, with an image of Patrick and SpongeBob riding jellyfish in the air above their houses.

Do you love grabbing a Starbucks drink in the Disney parks or at your local Starbucks location? You’re not alone!

Starbucks has a lot of fans and has announced some big things recently. It has been adding delivery nationwide and its rewards program recently changed as well. But an even bigger change has hit the company recently and it’s one that may impact your future coffee experience.

According to The Wall Street Journal, this week, Laxman Narasimhan, officially stepped into the role of Starbucks CEO and he did something unique to prepare for the transition.

Narasimhan was an outside hire and was formerly a PepsiCo executive, and he worked for months to immerse himself in the operations of Starbucks. How? Well, he actually “spent 40 hours training to become a certified barista and visited stores and facilities in the U.S., Europe, and Japan.” Did YOU spot him during a Starbucks visit?

While the company has hit record sales recently, Starbucks has acknowledged that its service has suffered. Narasimhan has indicated that “he plans to regularly work alongside baristas in cafes” to gain an understanding of the issues behind getting customers their coffee. He intends to work four hours in a different Starbucks store each month and he is actually expecting other senior leaders to do the same.⁠

One problem Narasimhan has already identified? According to him, Starbucks has too many different pairings of lids and cups. He said, “We’ve got things to do to become more disciplined.” So maybe this is something Narasimhan could seek to change in the future to make things more streamlined.

“We have got to find ways to ensure that we do listen and stay connected,” Narasimhan said. ⁠Starbucks plans to spend billions of dollars over the coming 3 years in an attempt to improve its stores and the situation with its employees.

Interestingly, Starbucks is just coming out of a situation similar to what Disney is experiencing with a returning CEO. Narasimhan has taken over from departing CEO Howard Schultz. Schultz acquired Starbucks some time ago, built it into an international brand, stepped down in 2000, returned to be its CEO again from 2008 to 2017 (not unlike how Bob Iger returned to Disney), and then came back again in 2022 as a longer-term leader. He is set to remain on Starbucks’ executive board.

But Narasimhan is CEO now and he is different from Schultz. Narasimhan said, “I’m different from him. I bring a different set of capabilities.”

Narasimhan shared that he has found room to reduce some shortages and waste in Starbucks’ supply chain. He has also indicated that new equipment being introduced will improve the coffee quality, while changes in the payment technology they use should help Starbucks’ expansion globally.

While spending time as a Starbucks barista, he also worked to process loyalty cards but found that sometimes he had to scan customers’ phones several times for payment. According to Narasimhan, Starbucks has to be practical about what its employees can do during peak hours simply because of that morning coffee rush.

So be on the lookout for potential changes with Starbucks in the future, and see if you happen to spot Narasimhan working as a barista at a location near you!

Disney World has a few different services to make trips magical and accessible for all guests.

From wheelchair- and ECV-accessible ride options to the offerings within the Disability Access Service, Disney works to include all guests in the magic. If you’re heading into Disney’s Animal Kingdom soon, there’s one special service that you may want to know about!

Over in Animal Kingdom, in the Asia section of the park, the Anandapur Theather hosts the Feathered Friends in Flight! show.

This show features a couple of trainers who teach visitors all about the birds of Animal Kingdom, with lots of guest appearances from the feathered stars themselves. You may hear a parrot sing a song, watch an owl fly low over the crowd, and even help the trainers launch fruit into the air for the birds to catch.

Recently, on a trip to this area of the park, we noticed that the showtime schedule indicated that one of the shows that day had a sign language interpreter.

We spoke with a Cast Member and found out that the sign language show is currently held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. If you’re planning to visit Animal Kingdom and would like to attend a show with a sign language interpreter, make sure you plan to be there on one of those days. You can tell which showtime has sign language interpretation by the symbol to the right of the time on the board.

This is not a new development — sign language shows have been held here for quite some time now, but we wanted to remind you about this cool feature in case it helps you out on an upcoming vacation.

The 50th Anniversary of Disney World is ending soon, and things are disappearing left and right.

With the official end to the celebration happening on March 31st, we’ve seen anniversary imagery removed from maps, decor removed from castle playsets, and souvenirs with warnings of their imminent departure. But, thankfully we have another exciting celebration to look forward to! The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary is upon us, and the new celebrations are already rolling in — there’s even a new nighttime show coming to EPCOT! Recently, we spotted one fun way to get in on the party in Disney World — and it’ll only cost you $1.

Pressed pennies are a popular souvenir for a lot of fans — when Splash Mountain was closing, the line to get a ride-themed penny was very long! Now, with the 100th anniversary celebration underway, there are NEW pressed pennies in the machines in Animal Kingdom. Three of these machines are right outside of Discovery Trading Company.

One of the penny machines has the Tree of Life and a meerkat without any 100th anniversary imagery, but one penny is themed to Zootopia and says “100 Years of Wonder” next to Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

Another one of the machines has another two pennies without new markings — but there’s a new Disney/Pixar Up-themed penny that also says “100 Years of Wonder.”

On the third machine, there was also only one new 100th anniversary pressed penny — but it’s Ice Age-themed! How cool is that? You’ll find Sid and Scrat next to the words “100 Years of Wonder.”

There is another machine with a new penny in Dinoland U.S.A., inside Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures.

At this penny machine, you’ll find two dinosaur options as well as a new 100th anniversary Bambi design. Like the others, this one also says “100 Years of Wonder.” Pretty cute!

Considering these pressed pennies are just $1 each, that’s a pretty cheap 100th anniversary souvenir to pick up (and a nice, small one to carry around with you). We’ll keep an eye out for any new 100th Anniversary sightings, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
