It’s been rough for the highly themed Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway queue at Disneyland Park. While the attraction is almost exactly the same as the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version, the queue takes guests through the unique El CapiTOON Theater, inspired by El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Guests get to check out the Mickey Through the Ears exhibit with real-life versions of props from various Mickey animated shorts, and then visit the concessions stand (which unfortunately doesn’t sell real concessions).

Within days of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening, a fake pepper shaker had already been yanked from its place at the concessions stand. We later learned that a child had pulled the prop out but a Cast Member was able to retrieve it and had it reinstalled. A month later, the pump from atop the fake nacho cheese dispenser was gone, likely from a similar incident. Guests later witnessed a child rip one of the “Pluto’s Christmas Tree” ornaments from its spot and throw it.

Recently, the salt shaker went missing from the area next to the $11.18 (a reference to Mickey’s birthday) cash register at the concessions stand. It seems the pepper shaker was torn out too — all these props are glued down — as it was later sitting in the salt shaker’s spot.

Apparently, Cast Members weren’t able to recover the salt shaker, so chose to replace it with one of the fake gumballs.

Unfortunately, just a day after we noticed the gumball replacement, it too went missing.

Given that it was a replacement, it probably wasn’t glued down as well as the original prop. Again, we would guess all of this damage to the Runaway Railway queue is being done by children who don’t realize the props aren’t for playing with.
