As the highly-anticipated TRON Lightcycle / Run launches toward an April 4 release, the accompanying merchandise has also been piquing interest. In particular, the TRON Identity Program now has reservations available, also initializing on April 4. This program offers guests the opportunity to customize and personalize their very own action figure.
TRON Identity Program Experience
In what’s described as a 20-minute experience, the guest, referred to in this experience as the “User,” has their face scanned, and is then offered a series of options for team colors, helmets, and body configurations. The “User” also has varying programs, or roles, for their figure — such as Enforcer or Combatant. At the end of the experience, an extra layer of personalization is added, in which six lines of unique dialogue may be recorded. Figures are estimated to be finished about an hour after the guest completes the process.
Considering the intricacy of these features, the action figures are priced higher than a usual store-bought product, at $89.99. Reservations for the experience can be made here.
This new merchandise offering seems reminiscent of Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though perhaps on a smaller scale. The intent does seem to be a certain element-generation of show, atmosphere, and inclusion — attempting to integrate the guest into a story somewhat more intricate than simply walking up to a cash register and checking out. Pandora – The World of Avatar has a similar action figure experience as well.
TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens to the public on April 4 in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.
