Earth Day celebrations have begun at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which means special Earth Day treats are available! At Pizzafari, guests can enjoy the new Elephant Cupcake and Viva Gaia Tonic. The park is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this Earth Day on April 22.
The Elephant Cupcake is also available at Restaurantosaurus. Both items will be available through April 30.
Elephant Cupcake – $5.99
Graham Cracker Cupcake with Pineapple Filling and a jungle of Matcha Buttercream, Crispy Pearls, and a stunning White Chocolate Elephant
Matcha, Graham cracker, pineapple, and chocolate sounds like a list of our favorite things, and they make for a perfect ingredient list. We recall a time when Walt Disney World released many new cupcakes a week and few were good. It’s made us wary of new cupcakes, but this one will help us recover.
It’s as creative as it is stunning, with a beautiful golden elephant on top. This is actually milk chocolate instead of white chocolate and the quality of the confection is stellar.
The matcha buttercream comes in an overwhelming portion, so bite carefully. When you do, the mix with the creamy pineapple filling and graham cracker-infused cake is worth remembering.
The cake is soft and moist, the pineapple brings a pronounced tropical flavor, and the matcha flavor comes in on the backend. We don’t say this about many Disney Parks cupcakes, but we would have this again.
Viva Gaia Tonic with Gin – $14.50
Bombay Sapphire Gin, Minute Maid® Zero Sugar Lemonade, Sprite®, flavors of Cotton Candy, and Mint Leaves
This shares a name with the Viva Gaia street band that regularly performs on Discovery Island. A non-alcoholic version is available for $4.49 without a glow cube or $7.49 with a glow cube.
It sounds like there’s a lot going on in this drink, but it ends up being a simple, refreshing taste. Gin’s natural (and sometimes polarizing) flavors play a perfect complementary role.
Yes, it’s sweet, but the individual flavors are subtle, though easily identifiable. The exception is if you happen to get a mint leaf, which overpowers the rest of the drink easily.
