The Lunching Pad at Magic Kingdom has an updated menu now that the 50th anniversary If You Had Wings dish has retired. In the morning, guests can get a new breakfast bowl with tater tots and cinnamon sticky bubble bread, but after 10:30 a.m., three new hot dogs are available.
Well, new to The Lunching Pad. At least the Cuban hot dog and a version of the queso fundido hot dog have previously been monthly options at Casey’s Corner on Main Street, U.S.A.
All three hot dogs were perfectly cooked. They were hot and the thin casing was perfect. The buns were probably just out of a bag but were soft and fresh.
Banh Mi Hot Dog – $12.29
All-Beef Hot Dog served with Pickled Vegetables, Sriracha Mayonnaise, and Cilantro served with a choice of Side
This is the best of the three new dogs.
The slaw isn’t overly crunchy or watery, so it doesn’t detract from the hot dog. It’s perfectly topped with a slightly spicy yet creamy sriracha mayo.
The cilantro is mostly present on the back end, so beware if you’re averse to the divisive topping.
Queso Fundido Hot Dog – $12.29
All-Beef Hot Dog topped with Queso Fundido, Street Corn Relish, and Spiced Tortilla Strips served with a choice of Side
This one is messy, but also quite good. The well-seasoned, rich, cheesy queso is filled with crunchy peppers and corn, all of which feel at home on the link.
The tortilla strips bring a crunch and a lot of salt to each bite, but good luck keeping them on.
Cuban Hot Dog – $12.29
All-Beef Hot Dog topped with Diced Ham, Pickles, Swiss Fondue, and Dijonnaise served with a choice of Side
There is ham buried deep in this dish and pork grinds on top, neither of which is advertised. We nearly broke a tooth on a stale pork rind, which is a shame because otherwise, this is quite good.
The combination of the tangy dijonnaise, the rich fondue, and the fresh dill pickle slaw is a winner.
The bites accented by the salty ham work well.
