This might be controversial, but Tomorrowland is my least favorite section of Magic Kingdom. I know several people who love this land and sing its praises all day. I am just not that girl. With that being said, I can still acknowledge the best attractions of Tomorrowland while admitting that this area needs help desperately. Enough critiques; let’s jump into the list.
3. Space Mountain
Space Mountain is the focal point of Tomorrowland, but I think that will change once TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens. This ride is a Disney classic; for many of us, it was our first thrill ride. Nowadays, this is the ride I go to when I need a full chiropractic back adjustment.
This attraction continues to be one of the most popular rides at Magic Kingdom, which is why the line is always out the door, and the wait time is over 60 minutes on most days. To board this attraction, guests must be 44 inches tall or taller. According to the My Disney Experience app, this ride is perfect for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. The app also lists that this is a thrill ride with big drops and that it is a dark ride.
I can still remember the first time I rode this ride. I was 11, and I had just made the height requirement. I cried the entire time we waited in line because I had no idea what to expect, but all I knew was that it was dark and scary. All the tears dried up while on the ride, and when I got off, I turned to my mom and said, “that was amazing; let’s do it again.” We didn’t do it again because of the wait time, but she did say, “I can’t believe you cried the whole time, and now you love it.” I guess that’s all part of growing up and facing your fears.
After that, it was my favorite attraction for a long while, but my back can’t handle it anymore. If yours can, please go enjoy this ride into space.
2. Carousel of Progress
This wonderful attraction reminds us that there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day but more importantly the air-conditioning in there is wonderful. This revolving show is a great way to enjoy Walt Disney’s legacy while watching the evolution of technology.
There are many different types of people that ride this attraction. Let me make a list.
- The nappers
- The clap their hands and sing-a-long people
- The people who realize this is just a show and not a ride
- The people who were dragged in by their spouses or friends
- The ” I am only here for the AC” people
Which one are you? I am the one that claps and sings along as we go into each scene. I am not the only one because my parents are the same exact way. I know plenty of people that nap during the attraction or just come in for 20 minutes of air-conditioning.
This is a slow-moving attraction that is perfect for all heights and any age.
1. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
The PeopleMover is a wonderful attraction. While riding the slow-moving ride, you can see the most wonderful views of Cinderella Castle and Tomorrowland. I have this ride in the number one spot because I think it perfectly reflects what this land represents. It’s a ten-minute tour of the entire land, and the best part is you are boarding an emission-free mass transit system.
This is also a great way to get kids to see the interior of Space Mountain without having to get them on the ride if they aren’t tall enough or ready for that type of thrill. Guests can also get a different view of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and the Tomorrowland Speedway.
The PeopleMover is a slow ride perfect for all ages and any height. I highly suggest hoping on this attraction while the sun sets or when Magic Kingdom is lit up at night.
BONUS: TRON Lightcycle / Run
I have ridden this attraction twice as of writing this, and I am in love with it. I don’t even like the TRON movies, but you don’t need to like them to enjoy the ride. When this attraction opens up to the public, it will for sure be moving on to the list officially. I highly suggest waking up early to get your place in the virtual queue if you are visiting later this year. It is worth it, I promise.
