The Unexpected ISSUE We Ran Into at Disney World Today

Many guests feel like they can’t do Disney World without a smartphone these days. It’s true that the My Disney Experience App can be your lifeline to the parks!

The app can help you check wait times, make dining reservations, purchase merchandise, and much more. That’s why when it isn’t working properly it’s not exactly a minor issue!

Today, we received this pop-up message in our My Disney Experience App. It says that they are performing maintenance on different parts of the app and that some features could be unavailable.

So far we haven’t noticed any issues with accessing different parts of the app. It was just a little annoying seeing this pop-up appear every minute or so when we first opened the app! We checked around, and the most important services like wait times and Genie+ were still up and running, so that’s good news.

If you do come across any outages, you can still check wait times the old-fashioned way — by walking over and checking the posted sign outside of the ride! These are pretty accurate and even sometimes overestimate your wait. For any app issues you can’t solve on your own, you can check in with Guest Services to see if they’re able to help you. If you’re trying to hop into a Lightning Lane or check in for a dining reservation, this information can also be stored in your MagicBands or Key to the World Cards just in case your app is down.
