Start crossing those fingers now — you’re going to need all the luck you can get when it comes to TRON Lightcycle / Run!
Though the ride doesn’t “officially” open until April 4th, it is conducting a “soft opening” from now through April 2nd. During this time (just as when the ride opens officially), you’ll only be able to hop on a Lightcycle if you’re able to snag a virtual queue spot or buy an Individual Lightning Lane (pay-per-ride). But if the virtual queue is what you’re trying for, heed this warning.
During this early preview time (similar to when the ride officially opens) virtual queue spots become available at 7AM and 1PM. So one of our lovely reporters hopped on their My Disney Experience app before 7AM, made sure they had everything set up, looked carefully at the time, and tried to join the virtual queue right when 7AM hit. But…the virtual queue was already FULL.

Remember that you do NOT need to be in Magic Kingdom to join at the 7AM sign-up time. But if you’re looking to get a virtual queue spot at 1PM, you’ll need to be IN Magic Kingdom at that time to join the virtual queue.
A standby queue is NOT available. To give yourself the best chance of scoring a virtual queue spot, make sure you’ve got the My Disney Experience app downloaded, ensure that your account (and those of the friends/family traveling with you) are fully set up, make sure you’ve got your tickets and Park Passes appropriately linked to your account, and be sure to open the app and have it ready to go before that sign-up time hits.
Also, keep in mind that on select nights starting April 5th, there will be one MORE chance to join the virtual queue for those guests who can participate in Extended Evening Hours (guests staying at Deluxe Disney World hotels, deluxe villas, or other select hotels). That sign-up time is at 6PM and you don’t need to be in Magic Kingdom to request to join at that time.
And if all else fails, you can try to snag a pay-per-ride selection (if you’re fast enough!).
