Why March 6th Is So Important For Disney Fans

We’ve got some more exciting Disneyland news for you!

Disneyland Railroad

This news specifically involves the Disneyland Railroad (which we found an adorable dress inspired by the iconic attraction recently), and the return of one of its iconic original steam engines — E.P. Ripley!

E.P. Ripley was named after Edward Payson Ripley, who was one of the original founders of the Atchison and Topeka Railroad (later named the Santa Fe Railroad).

The steam engine was taken off the tracks around 5 years ago for repairs, and a full restoration began in the summer of 2021. Some of this restoration included replicating “the original boiler, the headlamp and bell to bring the locomotive back to its original splendor.”

The return of the steam engine is especially meaningful this year, the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company because there are photos of Walt himself riding on the train pulled by E.P. Ripley back in 1955!

This steam engine will be back on the tracks giving guests rides starting on March 6th.
