Disneyland Paris has officially canceled their Halloween and New Year’s Eve parties, according to an announcement from DLP Report.
Some Holiday Festivities Cancelled at Disneyland Paris
As a compromise, Disneyland Paris announced they will be replacing the two special events with extended regular park operating hours and enhanced experiences on October 31 and December 31.
Last year, the Halloween event made its post-COVID return, and was offered as a separate experience from the park’s daily operations on October 29 and October 31. It included access to select attractions, such as Phantom Manor, Big Thunder Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean, until 2 a.m. — with 15% discounts provided to guests who purchased their tickets and hotel stay in a package deal.
Disney Parks Blog described last year’s event as “fa-boo-lous,” stating:
Not only is this wretchedly perfect experience an opportunity to enjoy haunting attractions well into nightfall, you’re invited to delight in an exclusive parade and new shows prepared just for the occasion. Adventureland’s caves and crypts will have an extra dose of chill-factor, becoming home to strange creatures and ghostly encounters will lurk throughout Frontierland. Of course, the Disney Villains plan to receive the attention they deserve across the park.
The absence of the party this year doesn’t necessarily mean all of these elements will be gone or unavailable to guests. Various holiday exclusives were available throughout the entire season last year — including decorations, garlands, pumpkins, cavalcades, snacks, merchandise, and a nighttime appearance of various Disney Villains in their own show preceding Disney D-Light and Disney Illuminations. Similar opportunities are likely to be available this year as well.
With this new format, there will be no separate event, and anyone who enters the park during the day will also be allowed to participate in any added Halloween experience. The same goes for New Year’s Eve.
Other Events in 2023
D23 recently held its own special event at the resort to commemorate the beginning of the end of the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris. The two-day excursion ran from April 12 to April 13 and included souvenirs, gala dinners, exclusive attraction & viewing experiences, and walk-through tours with Walt Disney Imagineering.
During this event’s Gala Dinner at Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel, hosts briefly mentioned October 16 would be a “very special” date at the resort to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary festivities. While no extra details have been offered quite yet, it’s possible another exclusive behind-the-scenes experience or separately ticketed event of some sort might be available this fall.
