Carrie Fisher will receive a posthumous star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame on Star Wars Day, May the 4th at 11:30 a.m. PT.
Carrie Fisher to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Actress Carrie Fisher, famous for several roles but especially well known for playing Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” franchise, will be honored posthumously by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on May 4th, 2023. She will be receiving the 2,754th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures. Her star will be unveiled near the historic El Capitan Theatre, 6840 Hollywood Boulevard.
According to Hollywood Walk of Fame, Billie Lourd will be accepting the star on behalf of her mother.
The press release announcing Carrie Fisher’s star stated the following:
‘Fans will be over the moon to know that their favorite movie princess, Carrie Fisher will be honored with her star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame! Carrie will join her “Star Wars” co-stars and fellow Walk of Famers Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford on this historic sidewalk’ stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ‘I am happy to add, that her star is just a few feet away from the star of Mark Hamill and across the street from the star of her legendary mother Debbie Reynolds!’ added Martinez.
The event will be streamed live exclusively at walkoffame.com
Star Wars Month
Also in California, Disneyland will be extending the usual “May the Fourth” special offerings into an entire month-long event in May.
According to the OC Register, the month-long event “will feature ‘epic encounters’ and themed food and beverage items inspired by the cinematic galaxy far, far away.”
The month is being kicked off with a couple of fan-favorite events, starting with the Hyperspace Mountain overlay and Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nites.
Hyperspace Mountain Overlay
The Hyperspace Mountain overlay began as a seasonal event in 2015 and continues to delight guests every year during the “Star Wars” celebration. The ride experience features iconic music by John Williams, and as riders plummet through the darkness on the indoor coaster, they enjoy thrilling additional features on the attraction, such as scenes of X-Wings, Starfighters, and even the Millennium Falcon fly across the screens inside Space Mountain.
Disneyland After Dark: ‘Star Wars’ Nite
The enormously popular Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nite is already sold out for all four of its dates in early May. Guests with a special ticket for this event can enter Disneyland without a park reservation on May 2, 4, 8, or 11, depending on which date they purchased their ticket.
Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nite includes multiple exciting events, including special food and beverage offerings, character meet-and-greets, and shorter-than-usual lines on popular attractions. The evening also usually features a fireworks show set to “Star Wars” music over Sleeping Beauty Castle.
These special events only serve to begin the party this year, though, as Disneyland has indicated it intends to celebrate “Star Wars” for the entire month of May.
