OutsidEars has provided new concept renderings for the reimagining of Production Courtyard and Toon Studio at Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris. Construction has been ongoing for years on a major expansion of the small park, but Production Courtyard and Toon Studio are pre-existing lands at the park’s entrance. They will be refurbished from November 2023 to May 2025, including the update to Studio 1, with a theater zone theme.
Guests enter Production Courtyard through Studio 1. Production Courtyard houses The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Studio Theatre, Stitch Live!, and Disney Junior Dream Factory.
Toon Studio is next to Production Courtyard and includes Flying Carpets Over Agrabah, Animation Celebration, and Animagique Theatre, home to Mickey and the Magician.
Theater Zone at Walt Disney Studios Park
A theater district was a project originally planned for Walt Disney Studios Park. The transformation of Production Central and Toon Studio into a theater zone will include a new 200 square meter (about 2,150 square feet) canopy at the exit of Studio 1. The rethemed area is described as a “New York theater district in London.”
The Partners statue in Walt Disney Studios Park will be moved and turned around to face the park. The façades of Hollywood Boulevard will be removed and replaced by trees, leading to the new promenade and 10-meter floor rosette that connect to the new English Gardens area.
The Sorcerer Mickey statue currently at the entrance to Toon Studio will be moved to a new planter outside Animation Celebration. He will be surrounded by small character statuettes that are currently in Animation Courtyard. Space for a food truck will be constructed behind Animation Celebration.
More trees and flowers will also be planted in Toon Studio, and large posters for Disney films will be displayed. Columns at the entrance of Animagique Theatre will be shaved to improve the view of the posters.
A new plaza and street will be created perpendicular to Hollywood Boulevard, which will also be updated.
The new parade path will go down Hollywood Boulevard, turn on Place des Stars, then exit east of Studio Theater.
Place des Stars will be transformed, but leave space for projection shows to still be performed and viewed on the Tower of Terror.
Walt Disney Studios Park Expansion
The Lake Promenade expansion to Walt Disney Studios Park will be home to the “Tangled Round Ride,” a spinner based on the 2010 animated film about Rapunzel, and will lead guests to the new Arendelle – World of “Frozen” land. There will also be an updated Toy Story Playland entrance, a new English Gardens area, a floor rosette, and a food truck. The multi-functional East Pavilion will be near the “Tangled” ride and across from a new table-service restaurant.
