CONFIRMED: Trail’s End Restaurant Is Officially Closed in Disney World

Things are CHANGING at many Disney World restaurants.

Breakfast at Trail’s End in 2021

Narcoossee’s has reopened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and California Grill (at Disney’s Contemporary Resort) has a brand new menu. But over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds, a major change had been announced for Trail’s End Restaurant, and now it seems like things are really moving along.

Back in January 2023, Disney announced that Trail’s End would be closing for refurbishment in the spring. The restaurant is set to be transformed into a NEW dining experience that’ll feature “a marketplace concept with expanded quick service options.”

When it reopens, the table service option will no longer be offered. That’s a major change from the once buffet-style restaurant that switched to family-style meals when it reopened after the pandemic-related closures.

Trail’s End Restaurant

Previously, the restaurant had shown hours through April 16th, 2023. That was later expanded to around May 7th, 2023. But now we have an important update.

The Disney World website now notes that Trail’s End Restaurant is officially CLOSED for refurbishment and that it’ll reopen in the summer of 2023. We were able to chat with a Disney Cast Member who also confirmed that the restaurant is now closed.

Just note that the Disney World website is a bit confusing about this closure at the moment. Though the page notes that the restaurant is closed and a Cast Member confirmed this via chat with us, it appears that operating hours are still listed for the restaurant through May 7th. One Cast Member indicated that the reservation system simply hasn’t been updated yet, so we expect this will all be updated on the website soon.

The Brisket

It’s time to say “goodbye” to buffets and all-you-can-eat skillets at Trail’s End Restaurant for now as we wait for the updated spot to reopen in the summer with a “marketplace concept with expanded quick service options.”

If you’re at Fort Wilderness and looking for other places to eat, know that Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, P&J’s Southern Takeout, and The Chuck Wagon food truck are available. You can also hop to other nearby resorts to check out their food options.
