Disneyland is celebrating World Wish Day on April 29 by displaying a trio of new windows on Main Street, U.S.A., dedicated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This is the company’s first window dedicated to a nonprofit company. Disney released a behind-the-scenes video for us to enjoy outlining the basic process.
New Window on Main Street, U.S.A.
For the very first window dedicated to a nonprofit organization, Disney has released a behind-the-scenes look at a new display that will be appearing on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. There are three windows being made to honor the nonprofit company, which Disney has had a working partnership with since 1980.
Glenn Duncan, a sign painter at the Disneyland Sign Shop, narrates a step-by-step explanation of how these special windows are created for display.
Below is the process described by him, transcribed from the video:
My name is Glenn Duncan. I’m a sign painter here at the Disneyland Sign Shop. Currently working on a project for Make-A-Wish Foundation, and we’re doing dedication windows on Main Street, where the three windows will go in place. It’s the first time that we’ve done a dedication window for a nonprofit.
When we screen print the image on it, that’s where the gold is trapped onto the glass, and when it dries we clean off all the excess gold. After that, we go into the process of adding matte centers. It’s the exact same gold, only it looks different on the glass. Then, we add the colors: a red print and a blue print on these. We do final clean up, then we install them in the frames. It’s kind of cool.

Since 1980, Disney has helped Make-A-Wish give more than 145,000 wishes around the world, delighting families and bringing hope, strength, and joy to wish children.
World Wish Day on April 29
World Wish Day is a yearly Make-A-Wish event that celebrates more than 40 years of giving life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses and bringing delight to their families. World Wish Day takes place on April 29, in honor of of the first wish that inspired the creation of the nonprofit.
Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than 520,000 wishes for children globally since 1980. Their wishes assist children with relieving traumatic stress, improving emotional well-being, creating a turning point in their treatment, giving strength to fight an illness, and promoting better health outcomes. This is done through providing memorable experiences and positivity in their lives.
Recently retired Chief Operations Officer Daniel Delcourt also received a special window on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Paris.
