Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Brings Back Cultural Representatives

Okay, there is a LOT to love about Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Animal Kingdom Lodge

First, what other hotel in Disney World gives you VIEWS of live animals all over the property? Plus, you’ve got some of the BEST dining in all of Disney World (Sanaa, Boma, AND Jiko). Also, the entire resort is just BEAUTIFUL. But up until recently, something IMPORTANT has been missing from the Animal Kingdom Lodge experience.

We’re talking about Animal Kingdom Lodge’s cultural representatives, who haven’t been at Animal Kingdom Lodge since Disney World’s closure in 2020. But over the past few weeks, the cultural representatives have been returning to Animal Kingdom Lodge. These special Cast Members come from various countries across Sub-Saharan Africa to offer their knowledge to guests about their cultures.

These Cast Members are part of a special international program run by Disney to bring them to the resort to, according to Disney, “help create authentic experiences and immerse guests in the diversity of their home countries through a combination of cultural and conservation-focused activities available at the resort.”

Not only are they an important part of storytelling at Disney World, but the cultural representatives also support Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team “by inspiring guests of all ages to care for animals and the world we share.” You’ll also find cultural representatives on hand at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s savannah overlooks ready to answer any questions you have about the animals you see.

These Cast Members are also responsible for educating guests about everything about African culture, including music. You can also meet them in the lobby of Animal Kingdom Lodge, where they’ll greet you and tell you everything you need to know about the hotel AND their cultures.

So if you find yourself at Animal Kingdom Lodge, be sure to seek these cultural representatives out and learn more about them.
