Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to Reprise Role as Maui in Live-Action ‘Moana’

In case you missed it, during the Monday 2023 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Disney announced that they’re working on a live-action reimagining of Moana.

As I listened to the call, I really thought a sequel would be announced to continue Moana’s story after Te Fiti was brought back to happier times, but I am a little surprised that we’re going to see a live-action remake first.

I’ll be honest, I’m a fan of most of the live-action remakes that have been released by Disney so far and I’m sure that I’ll enjoy this one as well. I just thought they’d choose to continue the story before releasing a live-action version of the original.

I know that many Disney fans are not too keen on the live-action remakes and would prefer that brand-new stories get told, but I’m wondering how you feel about this one in particular, especially because Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is returning! Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce the upcoming film through Seven Bucks Productions. Executive producers include Auli‘i Cravalho, who voiced Moana. Original screenplay writer Jared Bush is also involved with live-action reimagining.
