Len Goodman, Former Head Judge of ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ Has Passed Away

When it comes to shows on live television and on Disney+, Dancing With The Stars has proven to be a fan favorite for many. The show, which first aired in 2005 on ABC, features celebrities paired with professional dancers to perform and compete in front of a panel of judges.

Equally popular on the other side of the Atlantic is Strictly Come Dancing, the UK’s version of the television show. The common factor? Len Goodman, the British judge of both television shows, known for his witty remarks, charming accent, and his own ballroom dancing.

Goodman passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, April 22nd, after a battle with bone cancer. According to ABC News, agent Jackie Gill said that he passed away peacefully.

Although he retired in November, both American and British fans will now even more so miss his witty remarks and entertaining persona on the shows. His observations such as, “You floated across that floor like butter on a crumpet,” will be missed.

Numerous celebrities and even Camilla, Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, lamented the loss of the television and ballroom dancing personality.

Not only was Goodman popular in the world of dancing, but he also presented BBC radio programs and made numerous television documentaries both as a young professional and alongside his dancing and TV career. Among these documentaries was a 2012 program about the sinking of the Titanic. Before his career in dancing and broadcasting, he worked as a shipyard welder for the company that built the ship.
