Joey Chou Minnie Ears – $34.99
A new line of housewares, attire, and accessories have recently become available at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, featuring the beloved artwork of Joey Chou. The newest addition is a pair of brightly-colored Minnie Ears featuring a central medallion.
The new Minnie Ears are emblazoned with a repeating pattern featuring many treasured Disney characters and park icons. A whimsical, turquoise sequined bow is stuffed and finished with a deep purple central enamel medallion starring Tinker Bell and several sparkles floating around her. She is wearing a lemon-yellow dress and her usual floppy bun hairstyle.
The back of the Minnie Ears shows more of the purple-hued pattern and the sequined bow. Many of the images showcased in this pattern are featured in a larger format on other pieces in the collection. You can take a closer look at them here.
In addition, some of the characters on other items within Joey Chou’s collection are not shown on these Minnie Ears, so make sure you check out our other coverage.
Tinker Bell smiles and waves her wand for a little Disney Magic. The interior lining of the ears is a bright blue. Additional artwork is on printed on the accompanying packaging, including an illustration of fireworks over Cinderella Castle.
The pattern highlights a mid-century modern motif with irregularly shaped rectangles and stars. In front of these shapes are depictions of many fan-favorite characters, including Mickey Mouse on Jungle Cruise, Cheshire Cat, Tinker Bell, Hatbox Ghost, and more.
Cinderella Castle and the “Partners” statue are also featured prominently within the repeating pattern. “Partners,” as shown here, is an illustrated replication of the famous piece found in Magic Kingdom. The statue was first displayed in Walt Disney World to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 65th birthday. “Partners” is a copper representation of Walt Disney holding Mickey Mouse’s hand. It was crafted by Blaine Gibson in 1993 and stands seven inches taller than Walt Disney did himself in life.
The fabric has a satin sheen to it, and the sequins add a sparkle to the piece.
The exterior of the headband is dark purple to match both the pattern and the enamel medallion.
