We stopped by the new Disney Vacation Club tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort today to snap a few construction progress photos for you. Let’s take a look at what’s changed since our last visit on April 6.

Each time we stop by, the building is a little taller.
An additional floor of guest rooms on the left side has been added since our visit last week.
On April 6, we saw Cast Members beginning to construct this newest story. It looks like the pre-poured concrete slabs have been installed.
Wooden boards have been attached over the windows for safety.
A crane is on site to add additional material to the top of the structure.
Large quantities of dirt are also being displaced for the project.
The newest story is on the left side. A temporary safety railing has been installed on the top of the structure.
Construction began with the elevator shafts near the center of the building, and has spread from there. Right now, the elevator shafts go a a couple of floors higher than the rest of the concrete structure.
Many areas are roped off for worker safety.
This construction area is located at the former site of the Spirit of Aloha dinner show building. This attraction was demolished last year to make room for the new Disney Vacation Club tower. Disney announced Spirit of Aloha would be permanently closed last year after it shut down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additional safety railings can be seen in the very top windows within the elevator shaft.
The concept art for the new Disney Vacation Club tower can be seen below.
Expected to open in late 2024, the proposed property is expected to compliment the existing resort décor and theming, and “evoke the spirit of the Pacific Islands.”
In an effort to revive the hotel’s popularity, Disney’s Polynesian Resort underwent an extensive refurbishment recently. Standard rooms received “Moana” theming, but the Vacation Club Studios only received a soft goods refurbishment. This indicates only the upholstery, art, and various furnishings were updated. The resort opened with Walt Disney World in 1971, meaning it just finished celebrating its 50th anniversary, too.
