We saw an additional story added to the newest building at the Disney Vacation Club Tower construction site at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World.
Construction Progress Continues on Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort DVC Tower
Plenty of work is still to be done at this site. A concrete mixer is stationary with a Cast Member attending it. On this side of the structure, crew members are working on a new section of the foundation. The ground is outlined with wood walls. Two days ago, a piledriver was parked in the center. This has since been removed.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is in the background on the right side, across from the Seven Seas Lagoon. On the left, The Grand Floridian peeks around the corner.
A myriad of construction materials are strewn about, ready for Cast Member use. Though it looks like these will be separate buildings, all of the structures will be connected as one tower when complete. Several cranes are still in use around the first structure.
Concrete walls are staged on a truck. Several additional concrete walls have been added to the top of this structure. Construction began with the elevator shafts, which are still the tallest section.
This newer side structure is rising quickly. It has only been two days since our last update, and it looks different already.
A concrete wall is attached to a crane, ready to hoist.
The structure is now completing its fourth story. It was only two full stories tall the last time we visited.
Projected to open in late 2024, the proposed vacation ownership property is planned to complement the existing resort and evoke the spirit of the Pacific Islands. It sits on a beach and, according to concept art, will have its own pool.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Resort underwent an extensive refurbishment recently. While the standard rooms received “Moana” theming, the Disney Vacation Club Studios received only “soft goods” refurbishments, meaning just the upholstery and art were updated.
The hotel also received a new Monorail station and port-cochére. The entrance to the resort was redone as well to match the new structures. Kona Café recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment, with all new seating, decór, and more. The Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area and Lava Pool slide were also recently refurbished.
The rugs and most upholstery in the lobby of the Great Ceremonial House were recently replaced.

Alongside the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort turned 50 in 2021. The resort opened on October 1, 1971 with Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds also recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, but it didn’t open until November 1971.
It’s also home to the popular tiki bar, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. Guests don’t need a reservation at the hotel to visit the on-site bars and restaurants.
