During your next Disney World trip, you might be surprised by how much construction you encounter!
Right now, there’s a major project underway in the middle of EPCOT, and several hotels around the property are getting updates. We’re constantly noticing little refurbishments to keep things fresh and shiny, but soon, it looks like another construction project will begin in Magic Kingdom.
During a visit to the park, we noticed that the moat around Cinderella Castle has been drained! It’s not completely dry yet, but it’s well on its way.
Why would they drain the moat? Well, one of the last times this happened was because Disney was doing construction on Cinderella Castle — painting and adding the decorations for the 50th Anniversary. Now that the anniversary celebrations are over, it’s time for those decorations to come down.
We’ve already seen the giant 50th Anniversary medallion removed from the castle, but it will likely take a crane and some heavy-duty equipment to remove the large ribbons and gemstones on the castle spires. To get that equipment close to the castle, they typically need to drain the moat.
So we’ll be on the lookout for some changes coming soon! We’ll keep you updated with all the construction once it begins and we’ll make sure to share plenty of photos of the castle after the fact. Stay tuned!
