At the end of a 15th anniversary panel commemorating “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” Dave Filoni announced the “Tales of the Jedi” series on Disney+ would be releasing a second season on Disney+.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
“Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” is an anthology series of short stories from the prequel trilogy era. Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku were the focal points of the first season. The first three episodes focus on Ahsoka and her life story from childhood to Jedi on the run from the Empire. Count Dooku then receives three episodes roughly chronicling his descent from Jedi critic of the Republic to Separatist and Sith apprentice.
This series adds background and explores storylines that may not have ever been shown in extensive detail during the Skywalker Saga prequels. The inclusion of Mace Windu, young Anakin Skywalker, and other characters of the time period reunites fans with individuals they haven’t seen much of in over a decade.
The Year of Dave Filoni
Dave Filoni is the creative leader behind the series, and renowned throughout the Star Wars Galaxy as a writer, producer, and director since the mid-2000s. “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” was his initial major project, though he’s now been involved with innumerable productions from “The Mandalorian” to “Ahsoka” — premiering August 2023. A spin-off from “The Mandalorian,” this upcoming Disney+ original sees Rosario Dawson portray surviving Jedi Ahsoka Tano in the years following the collapse of the Empire.
At the 2023 Star Wars Celebration Europe, it has also been announced that Filoni will be directing a feature-length film taking place somewhere between the events of “The Mandalorian” and “The Force Awakens.” So far, this year is filled to the brim with announcements and expanded responsibilities for Filoni.
Despite this busy assortment of colossal projects in the near future, he appears willing and able to pursue smaller passion projects: “‘Tales of the Jedi’ was so fun the first time,” Filoni said. “I decided to do some more.”
There is no announced or anticipated release date for the second season thus far, though we will keep you updated on further developments.
