The Danger of Disney World You Didn’t Realize

In general, we like to think of Disney World as a pretty safe place!

Magic Kingdom

From a security standpoint, there are check-ins at the entrances of the parks and cameras everywhere. From a ride safety perspective, the attractions are inspected from time to time and take refurbishments for repairs whenever necessary. But there are some things in Disney World that are just a little bit dangerous — and you might be surprised by the list!

We recently reached out to our readers on Facebook to ask “What do you think is the most DANGEROUS thing in Disney World?” And well, we got some answers that are all over the board!

Scooters and Strollers

Let’s start with the one that was mentioned most often — scooters and/or strollers! There were arguments on both sides for how these wheeled vehicles can be quite dangerous.

ECV rental in Disney World

Those who didn’t use strollers, wheelchairs, ECVs, or scooters mentioned that they’d had their ankles and shins run into quite a few times during visits to the park. It’s not uncommon to get rammed into by someone who isn’t paying the closest attention to where they’re going, and if it has happened to you before, then you know that it HURTS.

Rental signage

But on the other hand, things can be pretty dangerous out there for people who operate ECVs or scooters too! The guests on their feet don’t always pay attention to where they’re going either and if you cut off someone in an electric vehicle by walking in front of them, they may not have time to stop before hitting you!

Strollers

One of our readers who rode a scooter even mentioned that they’ve had drinks spilled on them in the past due to careless guests. Just make sure you’re aware of your surroundings in the park and be courteous of others!

The Tracks on Main Street, U.S.A.

One thing that multiple readers called “dangerous” were the infamous trolley tracks on Main Street, U.S.A. If you’ve ever walked into Magic Kingdom and immediately rolled your ankle by stepping the wrong way, then you know how annoying those little boogers can be.

Don’t fall in the tracks!

In fact, they’re such a hazard that Disney even fills in the tracks on part of Main Street before the parade — that way the performers don’t trip. Interesting indeed!

Mission: SPACE

We don’t need to tell you that Mission: SPACE is dangerous — Disney does it at least 6 times during the pre-show for the ride alone. 😂 But seriously, many people mentioned this ride as being “dangerous” simply for the fact that they had a hard time keeping their lunch down afterward.

Mission: SPACE

There are some pretty extreme G-forces on Mission: SPACE and if you’re not prepared, you may find yourself in need of the provided paper bags (the only Disney World ride that comes with motion sickness bags right there in the seat). This is your word of warning!

The Weather

You can hear people say over and over that Florida is hot and humid, but you might not fully understand it until you experience it! Make sure to pack that sunscreen, wear comfortable clothes, and drink LOTS of water during your park day.

A rainy day in Animal Kingdom

On top of that, don’t be afraid to take breaks throughout the day! Your health is much more important than getting in one more ride, and you won’t be able to enjoy the parks if you have a heat stroke.

The Prices

Finally, we have to mention the prices! Multiple readers said that the gift shops, snack stands, EPCOT festivals, and just general Disney-ness of the parks were very dangerous for their wallets and credit card bills. We totally get it!

Mickey Premium Bar

It’s definitely a challenge to not go completely haywire and blow your budget on day one in the parks, especially if you’re a die-hard Disney fan. So rest assured, if you find the parks to be naturally dangerous for your bank account, you’re not alone!
