An all-NEW treat is coming to one of our favorite treat spots in Disney World!
If you’re looking for spooky, Halloween vibes all year round, one of the best places to find them is at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs. This bakery has a dimly lit interior with large, antique-looking bookcases and portraits of ghoulish (but also sort of adorable) characters. Oh, and did we mention the incredible giant cookies and decadent cake slices? We’ve been raving about Gideon’s Bakehouse for a LONG time now, but soon there will be another reason to visit this spot: a NEW treat is coming!
Disney World is getting ready to celebrate Halfway to Halloween, and as part of that celebration, they’re announcing some new treats throughout the parks and hotels. We had the chance to sample the newest dessert coming to Gideon’s Bakehouse at a recent media event, and this is one you’re NOT going to want to miss.
Gideon’s is bringing back its Halloween ambassador, Barnabas Mephistophelittle (try saying that five times fast…or once, for that matter), to introduce the Pumpkin Cheesecake Snack Cake. Gideon’s has had similar treats in the past, and we’ve really enjoyed them.
This new treat is a layer of spice cake topped with a hefty portion of pumpkin cheesecake, all wrapped in a coating of dark chocolate ganache.
We thought this treat was fantastic. That chocolate exterior is extremely rich, but it’s a pretty thin layer, and the pumpkin cheesecake is creamy and delicate enough to balance it out very well. In fact, that cheesecake was so light that we thought it might even be whipped. The spice cake is nice and moist, and if you have a bite on its own, you’ll find that it’s very heavily spiced. We enjoyed that flavor, but if you prefer a milder spice then just pair it with the cheesecake and it creates a great balance, with the creaminess toning down the kick from the spice.
The most prominent flavors were pumpkin and spice (neither overpowered the other), so this is a great treat for those who enjoy fall flavors. And honestly, we could eat a giant bowl of just that pumpkin cheesecake.
The flavors mixed very well together, and the textures were no less complimentary. The cheesecake was light, the chocolate was crisp (almost crunchy), and the spice cake was soft. The chocolate shell is a little bit hard, so you’ll want to be careful when you cut it or else the top part will slide right off the cake. We were advised to use a sharp knife in order to cut the treat neatly.
The portion size of one snack cake is pretty generous. Since the cakes are so sweet and rich, we think it’d be no problem to share with one or two other people (though once you get a bite, you may not want to).
These Pumpkin Cheesecake Snack Cakes will be available at Gideon’s Bakehouse starting on April 20th, with a purchase limit of two per person. As part of the Halfway to Halloween celebration, you’ll also receive a free trading card in any medium or large cookie box.
Gideon’s will have some new merchandise featuring their Halloween ambassador, Barnabas Mephistophelittle. Be on the lookout for a collector’s pin and temporary tattoo!
We’ll watch for more spooky announcements, so keep following DFB for more updates on all the latest Disney news!
