Genie+ can be a necessity in Disney World sometimes — but when?
You could rope drop, take advantage of Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours, or even hop on your favorite ride while everyone else is watching parades and fireworks, but sometimes ponying up the extra dough to skip the line can be worth it. If you’re heading to Disney World soon, here’s when you might still need Genie+.
It’s no secret that Disney World has a busy season (er, seasons.) And, busy seasons are only made worse by holidays and special events peppered throughout. Crowds can be extreme and lines can be LONG. Time is valuable when you’re trying to see and do as much as possible, so you might need Genie+ — but when?
Well, right about now actually. We’ve been keeping up with the latest Genie+ data so you can be prepared for your trip, and this past week was a doozy! Disney made some changes to the service a while back, and now the price fluctuates depending on the date of your visit.
On Monday, March 27th, Genie+ reached the highest price we’ve seen so far in Disney World again — at $29. Not only that, but by 2PM the return time for Haunted Mansion was already 6:55PM, Peter Pan’s Flight was 8:25PM, and there were no more available times for Frozen Ever After, Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Rise of the Resistance, and Flight of Passage.
The pattern pretty much continued throughout the rest of the week, and from March 28th through the 31st, the price of Genie+ remained at $29 per ticket. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was $12 per ride, and Cosmic Rewind was $17 per ride. Rise of the Resistance, Flight of Passage, and TRON sold out each day as well!
So, what does this mean for your upcoming trip? Well, if you’re heading to Disney World next week — you might want to budget a little extra for Genie+. Spring break crowds are out in full force (though many Annual Passholders have blockout dates during this time) and Easter Weekend is coming up too.
We could see wait times and the price skyrocket — and there’s also the chance that Genie+ could sell out entirely. This has happened a few times in Disney World already during peak times, so if you do think you might want to purchase the service we suggest doing so ASAP — which is midnight on the day of your visit.
We’ll be keeping up with more Genie+ news from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
