Disney World is constantly changing, but many of these changes become controversial according to fans.
Remember when the barges for Harmonious first appeared on the World Showcase Lagoon in EPCOT? A controversy. When Disney World discontinued Magical Express? Don’t even talk about it. And then there was Genie+ — Disney’s paid replacement for the free FastPass service. Now that Genie+ has been around for a while, we’ve mastered the skip-the-line service and we’re here to tell you when it’s worth it and when you should save your money.
Even though the wait times have gone down significantly since spring break time, there are some times when you still could benefit from purchasing Genie+.
Genie+ is Disney’s skip-the-line system that allows you to book a time to use the Lightning Lane for an expedited wait time. This can be a huge time-saver in parks like Hollywood Studios where most rides have long wait times throughout the day. The price of Genie+ depends on the day since Disney introduced flexible pricing earlier this year, however, we’ve seen the price fluctuate all the way up to $35 per person per day.
To help you decide on Genie+, let’s take a look at the average wait times from the past week in all four Disney World parks!
Magic Kingdom
Starting in Magic Kingdom, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had the longest average wait time of 72 minutes. Last week the average wait time was 75 minutes, so the time has continued to decrease
Next, Peter Pan’s Flight averaged 64 minutes, Space Mountain averaged 52 minutes, and Jungle Cruise averaged 45 minutes. After that, average wait times had Haunted Mansion at 37 minutes, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 33 minutes, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Pirates of the Caribbean at 31 minutes, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at 29 minutes, Astro Orbiter at 26 minutes, and Enchanted Tales with Belle averaged 24 minutes.
After that, “it’s a small world” averaged 19 minutes, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid and Magic Carpets of Aladdin averaged 18 minutes, The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini and Tomorrowland Speedway averaged 16 minutes, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Mickey’s PhilharMagic averaged 14 minutes.
Next, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel averaged 10 minutes, and Mad Tea Party averaged 11 minutes. The Enchanted Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, and the Liberty Square Riverboat all averaged 5 minutes.
The Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, and Tom Sawyer Island averaged no wait.

EPCOT
Heading over to EPCOT, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure had a high average wait time of 60 minutes — this is a slight increase compared to last week’s average of 57 minutes. Frozen Ever After’s wait time also increased this week to 60 minutes making these two a tie for the highest average wait time in the park.
Next up is Test Track at 53 minutes, Soarin’ at 40 minutes, Mission: SPACE at 17 minutes, Turtle Talk with Crush at 15 minutes, and Spaceship Earth at 11 minutes.
Then, there is Living with the Land at 9 minutes, The Seas with Nemo and Friends at 8 minutes, and Gran Fiesta Tour and Journey into Imagination at 7 minutes.
Awesome Planet, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Impressions de France, and Reflections of China had no wait times this week.

Hollywood Studios
Now it’s time to talk about Hollywood Studios where Slinky Dog Dash took the top spot for the highest wait time in the park with 78 minutes this week (compared to last week’s 77-minute average). Rise of the Resistance took the second-place spot for the highest wait time in the park with 71 minutes. Just last week, the average wait time was 61 minutes, so the wait time went up a bit, but not enough to take the top spot in the park!
Other wait times in the park include Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at 48 minutes, and Toy Story Mania and Tower of Terror at 47 minutes.
After that, Alien Swirling Saucers averaged 27 minutes, Walt Disney Presents averaged 15 minutes, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy averaged 12 minutes, and Muppet*Vision 3D and Star Tours – The Adventures Continue averaged 10 minutes.

Animal Kingdom
And last but not least, let’s talk about Animal Kingdom! Avatar Flight of Passage still had the longest average wait time this park this week with 81 minutes. This means the time went up from last week’s 70-minute average.
Following that, Na’vi River Journey at 61 minutes, Kilimanjaro Safaris at 35 minutes, Kali River Rapids at 28 minutes, Expedition Everest at 26 minutes, and DINOSAUR at 22 minutes.
It’s Tough to Be a Bug averaged 10 minutes and Triceratop Spin averaged 7 minutes. Both The Boneyard and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail averaged no wait time.
A Popular Animal Kingdom Attraction Will CLOSE for a LONG TIME in Disney World
Even though Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to the attraction with the highest wait time (Avatar Flight of Passage), we do NOT recommend buying Genie+ to most visitors at that park. Most of the other wait times are manageable and if you are spending a full day at Animal Kingdom, there is not a huge number of attractions meaning you have plenty of time to knock them all out. Keep this in mind when deciding where to spend your hard-earned money on Genie+!
