Asia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is a beautiful section of the park that is filled with vibrant colors and sounds. A fun fact about this area is that it is themed after Nepal, Mongolia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and India. Disney used inspiration from lush vegetation, crumbling ruins, and mysterious temples from these various countries. While using all those influences, they created the mythical kingdom of Anandapur. Disney used many nations that were not culturally specific, as opposed to one actual country, in the birth of Anandapur, which means “place of all delights.” Now that we know a little bit about this unique land, let’s jump into the five things I love about it.
5. Feathered Friends in Flight!
Feather Friends in Flight! is a way to join the animal behavior specialists for a behind-the-scenes look at the free-flying birds who live inside the theme park. When I recently visited the park, I watched this show for the first time in a long time. I was hesitant, but I ended up loving it. The behavior specialists were so funny yet highly informative. I loved seeing all the different birds fly around and showing off their beauty. What I love about this show is that it’s unpredictable because sometimes the birds might do whatever they want.
This is also a great way to take a break from walking and escape the sun during the summer months. I think everyone should see this at least once unless they are afraid of birds. The theatre that houses this show is located at the beginning of the land near Yak & Yeti and close to the African side of the park.
4. Yak & Yeti Restaurant
Yak & Yeti Restaurant is owned by the same company as Rainforest Cafe and T-rex Cafe, but the food is very different, and the service is amazing. Here travelers can relax and enjoy a pan-Asian feast in this beautiful Nepalese-style restaurant. Due to its popularity, I suggest making a reservation or joining the walk-up list if it’s available.
3. The Theming
The Asia section of the park, Anandapur, is stunning. There are ruins, lush greenery, and immersive decor all throughout the land. As I’ve gotten older, I have actually taken the time to take it all in and pay attention to the details. Some days I’ll sit in the amphitheater that once housed Rivers of Light, and I’ll admire the scenery and how peaceful it is. I think peaceful is the best way to describe this section of the park because when I’m here, I feel like I can just relax and not be in a rush.
2. Expedition Everest
I feel like this one is a bit self-explanatory. Expedition Everest is one of the best rides at Walt Disney Word. It has the perfect amount of thrill and storyline mixed in, making it an almost perfect attraction. If Disco Yeti worked like it once did, then I would say it’s a perfect attraction. I travel to the parks alone a lot of the time, and this is one of the few rides that has a single-rider line, so I always take a moment to enjoy the attraction.
1. Maharajah Jungle Trek
My number one spot is the Maharajah Jungle Trek simply because there’s a chance you might see tigers which is so fun. Not only that, but I do love exploring the trails here at Animal Kingdom, especially since they offer a lot of shade. It’s also cool to see all the animals, and when you visit, you never know what those cute creatures will be up to this time.
