Sources close to CNN have revealed that The Walt Disney Company is embarking on the third round of job cuts since the announcement earlier in the year of a restructuring that would include the loss of 7000 employees. It is not yet known which departments will be the focus of the move. With the company employing roughly 220,000 people as of October 2022, the reduction in staff will account for approximately 3% of the workforce.
The last round of cuts in April strongly impacted Disney’s entertainment division, Disney Parks, and Disney’s Experiences and Products divisions. The new round of cuts expected to begin will reportedly account for a 2,500 reduction, bringing the total so far to roughly 6,500.
To all those affected by the changes being made in this personnel overhaul, please accept my sincere gratitude for all the work you have done to make our Disney experiences, both in the parks and at home, nothing short of magic.
