As hype continues to build around the Disney Lorcana trading card game, we keep seeing more cards revealed leading up to its August 2023 release.
Four New Disney Lorcana Trading Cards
As revealed exclusively by TheGamer, we now have a look at four animal companion character cards coming to the game’s first full card set — The First Chapter. The animal sidekicks vary across all types of “ink,” which is the one of the six types of magical category into which each card falls.
The four exclusive reveals are as follows:
- The Amber card Timon, Grub Rustler from The Lion King
- The Steel Cerberus, Three-Headed Dog from Hercules
- The Ruby Sergeant Tibbs, Courageous Cat from 101 Dalmatians
- The Emerald Iago, Loud-Mouthed Parrot from Aladdin
The powers of these characters will not be fully clear until closer to release when more details on the rules will be revealed. Although it seems worth noting Timon may be useful as for a single ink cost you can restore damage. Sergeant Tibbs also only costs one ink but can deal two damage, perhaps advantageous. Iago is the one most unclear as of yet.
Disney Lorcana will first be released at Gen Con 2023 in Indianapolis from August 3 to 6, in games stores on August 18, and in mass retail from September.
What is Disney Lorcana?
According to the official game rules (which got spoiled earlier recently) when you play Lorcana, “you race to locate pieces of lore scattered across Lorcana and collect them for safekeeping. Summon glimmers of Disney characters and items along the way to help with quests, hinder your opponents, and challenge opposing characters. With the right strategy and a bit of luck, you can preserve your collected lore against future threats!” To do this, you’ll build a deck of sixty cards that you’ve collected (don’t worry, complete pre-assembled decks will be available to purchase so you don’t need to fully build one!) of different Disney characters, items, and even songs, and set out on a quest against another player! The first player to gain 20 or more lore wins.
You can learn more about it in our explainer post from last month.
