The Germany Pavilion at EPCOT is a staple for many guests, even though there isn’t much to do. Sometimes I think to myself, “Is this pavilion just flat-out boring?” The answer is yes if you are under 21 or don’t enjoy adult beverages.
This pavilion has no attractions, even though it’s one of the most beautifully themed ones in the World Showcase. Most guests don’t come here looking for rides or entertainment. They come here for food, drinks, and for shopping.
The pavilion has three food spots: one sit-down restaurant, a walk-up window, and everyone’s favorite sweets shop. Guests will also be able to find a few drink stops while walking through the area. I mentioned shopping, and there’s a lot of it here. The stores used to carry better merchandise, but unfortunately, it’s gone downhill in the past few years. Let’s take a look at everything the pavilion has to offer so we can see if it’s truly boring or not.
Germany Pavilion Dining
Biergarten Restaurant is the table service option at the Germany Pavilion and is one of my favorite dining locations at EPCOT. Here you’ll be transported to a traditional Bavarian village as you enjoy German dishes, all while enjoying the music played by a polka band. This is labeled as a unique/themed dining experience and a buffet. To dine here, you will need Advance Dining Reservations unless you are lucky enough to join the waitlist.
Sommerfest is a walk-up window just outside of Biergarten Restaurant. Here they serve Deutsch delicacies like bratwurst, jumbo pretzels, and, of course, German beer. This is also where you can find that famous pretzel bread pudding that is out of this world. A few years ago, they used to serve a mac and cheese type of dish that was, in my opinion, the best one on property.
The next spot is strictly for those that love sweets, Karamell-Küche. Guests will find caramel-covered snacks and can watch the bakers create the desserts. Unfortunately, I can’t eat here because of my allergy, but I hear many fans rave about the Caramel Butter Bar, Caramel Cookie Butter Square, and Caramel Apples. What is your go-to order when you stop here?
Shopping at the Germany Pavilion
There are various shops throughout the pavilion, so let’s look at some photos of the stores and see what they currently offer.
Germany Pavilion Entertainment
There are two entertainment offerings available at the Germany Pavilion. One is Snow White’s meet and greet, where guests can interact with this princess.
Just a few steps away from Snow White’s wishing well is a stage where the Groovin Alps perform and bring the sounds of the mountains to EPCOT.
This pavilion is, without a doubt, beautiful and unique, but I can also say that it’s a bit boring. When I was walking through it the other day, it really hit me that there isn’t much to do here. I wish they would add a theater show or even a ride, but who knows if that will ever happen. If you could add anything to the Germany Pavilion, what would you add?
