For those wishing to show some school pride, a new Monsters University Spirit Jersey is available at Magic Kingdom, in Star Traders of Tomorrowland.

The design is partitioned into a gray lower half and blue upper half, including the sleeves. “Monsters” is spelled out in a plaid style, and various school icons are arranged like they may have appeared on a student’s college dorm wall. This includes a pennant for Mike Wazowski and a foam finger, among others.
On the front, the university’s logo rests in the top right, with its opening year of 1313 displayed and the motto “Scaring is caring.” More pennants can be seen, along with various accolades for the university’s sports teams: a league championship for some sort of basketball that involves horns, and a divisional title for a monster-fied version of soccer in which the ball appears to be a crawling insect.
“Monsters University” is a prequel to the 2001 Pixar film “Monsters, Inc.” — revolving around the eponymous college. In the original, the main characters Mike and Sulley were already established as close partners, roommates, and best friends from the very beginning. Here, they meet for the first time, and first impressions are less than stellar.
When their bitterness and rivalry ultimately cause the pair to fail an exam they desperately needed to pass in order to be accepted into the school’s scare program, Mike makes a deal with the Dean (Hardscrabble): he will compete in the Scare Games, and if his team wins, every member will be accepted as scare students. If he loses, he’ll leave the university for good.
Mike, Sulley, and a fledgling group of misfits in the Oozma Kappa fraternity are forced to work together if they wish to keep their dreams alive and overcome the arrogant and mean-spirited front-runners — Roar Omega Roar.
This has arrived in time for the movie’s tenth anniversary next month. Financially, this prequel was a hit, grossing almost $750 million, enough to surpass its predecessor and other Pixar favorites such as “Up.” It has spawned a range of merchandise tapping into the fun and humorous side of a school for monsters.
