Major PROBLEMS Could Impact Your 2024 Disney World Trip Booking

In what may come as a surprise to approximately nobody, Disney World’s website is once again STRUGGLING this morning.

Disney World

Disney does a lot of things really well — they have thrilling roller coasters, delicious restaurants, and beautifully themed hotels. The movies are iconic, and the music is magical. However, Disney’s websites and apps often leave something to be desired.

We’ve experienced technical problems during Annual Pass sales, when tickets go on sale for major events, and now, when 2024 vacation packages opened for booking. If you’re trying to book a package for your 2024 vacation, you may run into the same problems!

Here at the Disney Food Blog, we were all ready to book our 2024 vacations this morning at 6AM EST (Disney didn’t announce an official time for when vacation packages would go on sale today — May 31st — but in our experience, these don’t usually open up before 6AM, so we were playing it safe). We hopped onto Disney World’s website and were greeted by a waiting room page.

We sat in that waiting room, which said our approximate wait time was “recalculating,” for about an hour until we finally saw progress around 7AM EST. At that time, our team members were given various wait times, likely depending on when they opened the webpage.

The time we actually waited to get in and start booking 2024 vacation packages was actually much shorter than expected for some people. For example, one team member was given an approximate wait time of 30 minutes and actually only waited about 10 minutes before she was admitted to the website and could start making reservations.

However, for other people, the waiting room never ended.

After waiting for about 30 minutes, the page was updated to say, “We have currently paused online bookings and will resume as soon as possible.”

©Disney

Even though they’d previously seen an updated approximate wait time (ranging from 10 minutes to “more than an hour”), our team members reported that it was updated to say “Recalculating.” It’s possible that there were too many people attempting to book their 2024 vacations, so the website was at capacity and could not allow more people in.

Later, the message was updated to say, “We have currently paused bookings online and over the phone.” You can book packages and reservations by calling (407) 939-5277, but that line is currently closed as well. For now, the only thing to do is to stay in the online waiting room. Disney’s message says you should not leave that room: “To retain your place in the waiting room, please don’t refresh the page or select the back button.”

We’ll continue to watch for more updates on this situation, and we’ll be sure to let you know when bookings reopen!

ALERT! 🚨 2024 Disney World Vacation Packages Are NOW OPEN for Booking!

It’s time to start planning your next Disney World vacation!

Cinderella Castle

You might be thinking, “My vacation is already booked! It’s summer NOW!” Yeah, we mean NEXT year’s vacation. If you’re like us and thrive off planning your next Disney World vacation, this post is for you. (Psssttt… Lots of BIG changes are coming, so you might wanna listen up!)

Bookings are NOW OPEN for 2024 vacation packages at Disney World, which means that you can officially begin planning. You can now purchase theme park tickets, make hotel reservations, and book full vacation packages for your 2024 trip. We only had to wait in an online queue for a short time before we were able to start booking the packages. Remember that you can book these packages online or over the phone. The phone number to call for booking tickets, reservations, and packages is (407) 939-5277.

We have a feeling that a lot of Disney fans will be headed into the park in 2024 due to some highly anticipated changes (hello, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!), so you might want to book your 2024 vacation as soon as possible. So, what exactly is changing at Disney World next year?

Disney World

Well, the Disney Dining Plan is set to return in 2024, for starters! If you love to munch on some Disney snacks as much as we do, then 2024 is your time to shine. Two plans will be offered: The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and a Standard Disney Dining Plan.

Name a better duo. We’ll wait.

Starting now, you can add the Disney Dining Plan to 2024 vacation packages (for trips that start on or after January 9th). 2024 is the year of SNACKS, mark our words!

100th Anniversary Popcorn

While we don’t know the specifics of this next change, Disney is hoping to simplify the user experience when it comes to Genie+.

If you missed the days of selecting some FastPass+ reservations in ADVANCE of your trip, you may be in luck. Disney has acknowledged that they’ve heard guests saying they wish they could “plan with Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their park visit” and Disney has shared that they’re “working on ways guests may do this for visits in 2024.”

Genie+

According to Disney, their goal is to “give you the opportunity to spend less time planning in the park and more time enjoying your visit with friends and family.” They haven’t revealed just what those changes will be yet, but more details are set to be released at a future date. It seems the overall goal will be to “simplify” your Genie+ experience.

Genie+

One last thing: extended park hours for hotel guests will stick around in 2024! Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours will continue at all four parks for guests staying at Disney World hotels.
