In an ideal world, we would all plan our Disney World vacations around the cheapest, least crowded times of the year, right? After all, it’s a lot easier to conquer all the rides in Magic Kingdom when the wait times are under 60 minutes, and it’s much more enjoyable to eat your Cosmic Ray’s chicken nuggets without a family hovering nearby waiting for an open table.

Crowds? PASS!

While Disney may be considered a fantasy world, we know you can’t live in one all the time, so let’s get real about ticket prices. A trip to Disney World is EXPENSIVE! On top of rising ticket prices, you’ve got a lot of added costs to deal with in the parks and resorts. So to help you cut down on expenses, let’s discuss the CHEAPEST days to go to Disney World in 2024. 

Before we dive in, we should probably explain a few things. First of all, the price of a Disney World park ticket is not a one-size-fits-all cost. Disney World theme park tickets vary depending on the park, date, and ticket type.

Magic Kingdom

For example, a one-day, one-park theme park ticket to Disney’s Animal Kingdom will cost you a lot less than a one-day park hopper ticket to the Magic Kingdom on Halloween. There are a LOT of factors that go into Disney’s ticket pricing — and some of those factors are a mystery!

Additionally, the prices we will talk about are just the sticker price. With a little research (and a bit of luck), you may find a seasonal ticket promotion or package deal that can help reduce the price of your park tickets. If you have a bit of flexibility in your dates, look out for special ticket deals throughout the year.

Be on the lookout for deals!

Ok, ok. Let’s get to the reason you’re here. Here is a list of the cheapest ticket prices we’ve seen so far in 2024 (marked $109+ on the Disney World website):

• August 20th
• August 21st
• August 22nd
• August 23rd

Note that some of these prices are actually lower than they were in 2023, and there are a few dates where the price remains unchanged compared to 2023.

According to the calendar on the Disney World website, August had some of the cheapest dates of the year, with prices starting at $109.

Additionally, we found some dates in September that were slightly less expensive. As you can probably tell from the calendar, those $109 tickets are few and far between!

Annual Passholders just got a new perk over in EPCOT!

Disney World Annual Passholders have a few different perks they can use throughout the parks — discounts on merchandise, special snacks and items, a specific entrance, and more. But if you’re heading into EPCOT soon, you’ll want to check out the new lounge APs have all to themselves!

We got to head in to get a first look at the new Annual Passholder Lounge in Sunshine Seasons ourselves today. We got some new details on this lounge recently, and now it’s time to check it out in person together.

The lounge is meant to be a space for Passholders to cool off and take a break in a reserved area. There are exclusive snacks available for Passholders at Sunshine Seasons as well:

• A Spark of Grape Shake — Grape, guava, passionfruit, orange, and lime (this descrption kinda reminds us of the Grape Smoothie from Figment’s Inspiration Station at The Odyssey from the 2023 Festival of the Arts!)
• Raspberry “Lemonade” Tart — Shortbread tart filled with lemon mousse, raspberry jam, and raspberry mousse

You will need to have a Park Pass Reservation to enter EPCOT in order to enjoy the lounge. However, Park Pass Reservations are NOT required for Passholders if you plan to enter EPCOT after 2PM (subject to blockout dates).

This treat is so sweet and fruity. You get a lot of the raspberry flavor with it, too.

Raspberry “Lemonade” Tart

Although it is VERY sweet, the tart itself added a nice crisp texture to the whole. The filling was light and fluffy. We thought this was just okay, but it’s not something we think we’d get again. But it is SUPER cute.

However, we were blown away by A Spark of Grape Shake for $8.99. Its flavors include Grape, Guava, Passion Fruit, Orange, and Lime.

That might seem like a lot, but it’s DELICIOUS. It reminded us of a grape Jolly Rancher. 

A Spark of Grape Shake

However, we will warn you that this is a LITTLE different, so not everyone might enjoy it. But if you like drinking candy, GO FOR IT. The topping was also really delicious. It was like someone took a Kool-Aid packet and whipped it into the cream on top. The result is fruity and flavorful! We would definitely order this again.

We loved it!

Keep in mind that this lounge will only be available from May 31st through June 30th, 2023, and guests can expect to find the area a good place to cool off and get some special snacks at an additional cost. It’s also available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so we suggest heading over there ASAP if you’re interested.

Amid all the hustle and bustle in Disney World, a modest little snack spot with a quiet but loyal fanbase serves some of the tastiest foods in Hollywood Studios. Any guesses?

Hello from Disney’s Hollywood Studios

If you guessed BaseLine Tap House, congrats! You are a TRUE Disney foodie. During a recent trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed something strange happening at the restaurant. 

You never know what Disney World attractions or shows may close without warning, but keep in mind that some restaurants and snack spots may randomly close throughout the day, too. Recently, we noticed that BaseLine Tap House was unexpectedly closed in Disney World.

When we passed by the area, we noticed that the doors were closed and Cast Members were posted outside the building. According to a Cast Member, a technical glitch caused the closure, but the team hoped to reopen later in the day.

Guests were not allowed inside, though we saw a sizable crowd waiting nearby in hopes that the restaurant would reopen soon. After all, once you start craving one of those huge, warm soft pretzels, it’s practically impossible to stop thinking about it! (Speaking from personal experience, anyway)

In the meantime, there are plenty of other sharable appetizers and bite-size snacks you can find around Hollywood Studios. When you find your plans are thwarted in Disney World, don’t panic! We recommend checking out The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge or Ronto Roasters for a quality meal.

Gen Con 2023, taking place August 3-6 in Indianapolis, is now forcing fans who paid for extra Disney Lorcana events to give them up.

Disney Lorcana is bringing three separate events to Gen Con: a learn-to-play demo, the Disney Lorcana Starter Deck Challenge! and a few casual play events.

The convention emailed guests who had booked multiple Disney Lorcana events, stating, “Ravensburger’s intentions with Disney Lorcana events at Gen Con 2023 were meant to maximize the number of attendees that would be able to play and participate during the convention.”

They explained in the email (which is included in full at the end of this post) that guests who had registered for multiple sessions of a Lorcana event would be refunded to the original method of payment on June 5 and left with a single ticket for a time chosen at discretion.

In order to choose what time that single ticket is for, guests must refund their extra tickets themselves or contact Gen Con directly before June 5.

The decision is putting many convention guests in a bind since they planned their trip around the events they had booked. Most events are sold out now, meaning they will have difficulty finding something else to join in place of the extra Lorcana event.

It’s also clearly no coincidence that Gen Con chose today, May 31, to make this announcement. Yesterday, May 30, was the last day to cancel a Gen Con hotel room and only pay a $50 fee. As of today, guests hoping to cancel a hotel room must pay the full amount per room cancelled. Read the full cancellation policy.

Meanwhile, many guests had already cancelled their Gen Con trips because they weren’t able to register for a Disney Lorcana event. Gen Con didn’t anticipate the number of attendees trying to register for the events, and all were sold out before some guests’ wishlists were even processed. The good news is, guests who haven’t cancelled their trips but weren’t able to register for a Disney Lorcana event may be able to now.

Guests may also try to attend a sold out event if someone doesn’t show up. It has been recommended for those attending to purchase generic tickets (which are sold for $2 each) and head over to the headquarters before an event you would like to join starts; sometimes people don’t show up, which will allow anyone to utilize generic tickets to fill the vacancy. Just remember, the dollar value of the generic tickets needs to match the actual ticket price, so in order to join a Learn to Play Demo or the Starter Deck Challenge! you’ll need to purchase ten generic tickets.

Full Gen Con Email to Disney Lorcana Event Attendees

Ravensburger’s intentions with Disney Lorcana events at Gen Con 2023 were meant to maximize the number of attendees that would be able to play and participate during the convention. As noted in the Message to Registered Players that you should have received via email after signing up: “We regret that no player substitution is allowed; identification will be required to participate. Only one entry per person allowed.”

Some attendees were able to secure multiple tickets to different sessions but did not remove those from carts before checking out when event registration opened on May 21 and currently have more than one ticket under their own name in their schedule.

Gen Con will begin refunding these duplicate registrations to the original method of payment on June 5th. Affected accounts will be left with a single ticket for a time chosen at Gen Con’s discretion.

Or, If you have any duplicate tickets, you can return them yourself for system credit from the My Transactions page in your account at https://www.gencon.com/my transactions/. This system credit can be used to purchase badges or tickets for Gen Con this year or any future show (system credit is non-refundable and non-transferable and does not expire).

If you would like a refund to your original method of payment instead, please contact Customer Service ([email protected]) to confirm your account information and the game IDs of the Lorcana events you would like to refund. You will not be charged a processing fee for the refunds.

Important: If you would like to select which ticket you retain, you must refund the tickets yourself or email us to refund them before June 5th or they will be refunded at Gen Con’s discretion and you will be left with a single ticket.

Each attendee will only be permitted to play in a single session of Learn to Play and Start Deck Challenge events. Attempts to play again later may be denied entry and tickets can only be returned for a refund up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
