The walkway connecting Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has now reopened.
Magic Kingdom & Grand Floridian Resort Walkway
Disney originally stated that this path would reopen in “late spring” 2023,” which would mean a reopening before the end of June. The walkway reopened just in time to meet that deadline.
The walkway opened in late 2020, finally giving guests a direct (although long) walking path from the Grand Floridian and Polynesian Village Resort to Magic Kingdom. It can be found between boat launches and the Monorail station outside Magic Kingdom.
Along the path, guests can look out for a photo op of monorails passing.
Although it is a lengthy walk, there are several areas along the path that provide shade. Greenery in the area provides a scenic backdrop for a stroll.
The temporary construction fencing near the treeline as well as the potted plant wall are signs that construction in this area isn’t complete, although the walkway is now open.
We captured a video of the walk from Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Grand Floridian when it first opened. You can check out that video below.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Refurbishment
Reportedly, when now-former CEO Bob Chapek took over the Parks & Resorts division in 2015, he felt that the Grand Floridian was not up to standards. The comparisons to a Four Seasons didn’t befit the current state of Walt Disney World, and so it was no longer suitable as the flagship resort. But rather than shift focus to another resort hotel, the company decided to make changes.
Narcoossee’s was closed from June 2022 to April 2023, and reopened with a revamped interior and “land and sea” menu. Read our Narcoossee’s review.
1900 Park Fare, the character dining buffet location at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, is still closed for refurbishment. The restaurant has not reopened since it closed in March 2020 with the rest of Walt Disney World Resort due to COVID-19. When physical distancing measures were still in place, 1900 Park Fare was used as overflow seating for Grand Floridian Café for a short period of time.

The weather can completely disrupt your day, close down rides, and probably leave you soaked and miserable by the end of the day (although we DO have some tips to prepare for the weather). But what if there is a good side to the rain? What if you could score a HUGE discount, but ONLY when it rains in Disney World?
Intrigued? Well, we didn’t make that up. For those who don’t know, Basin makes some wonderful soaps, bath bombs, bath salts, body butter, lip balms, and more. And a lot of it is even Disney-themed! You might be familiar with the Basin shop in Disney Springs (there’s one at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, too!) — it’s the perfect place to pick up some sweet-scented soaps.

Space Mountain is one of the most ICONIC classic Disney attractions. (And it’s also one of the most back-breaking rides in Tomorrowland — free chiropractic adjustment, anyone?)
Space Mountain in Disneyland
Space Mountain has experienced its share of highs and lows (pun intended because it’s a ROLLER COASTER ); it’s one of those attractions that’s been around for a LONG time. It initially opened in Disney World in March 1975 and later opened in Disneyland on May 27th, 1977. That means that Disneyland’s Space Mountain is turning 46 years old today, May 27th — and Disneyland is celebrating with a new souvenir and drink.
To celebrate Space Mountain’s big day, a new Space Mountain Stainless Steel Bottle is now available filled with a NEW drink (which sounds AMAZING): Passion Fruit Limeade. YUM. The bottle even comes with a Space Mountain strap to give you a hands-free carrying option.
You can grab the bottle and drink at Alien Pizza Planet for $27.99 via mobile order, as well as at Tomorrowland Lemonade, and Galactic Grill. Fingers crossed that this beverage doesn’t give us that same sick-to-our-stomach feeling we get when we get off Space Mountain!

Oh, and if you’re looking for more new snacks, be sure to stop by Downtown Disney during the month of June for some all-new treats celebrating Black Music History Month. There will also be live music and more activities!
If you’re looking for a great tee to wear for your next Disneyland trip, be sure to check out our DFB exclusive graphic tees and merch? It’s super fun stuff to wear to the parks, or to rep your happy place at the grocery store!

Y’all — it can get HOT in Florida, especially in the summer. The most important thing you can do BESIDES staying hydrated is to try and keep your body temperature down as much as possible. That’s why we’re going to recommend bringing these Cooling Towels with you. Trust us — these things are lifesavers.

There is a LOT of construction going on in Disney World right now. Between the parks and the resorts, there are construction walls, cranes, and barriers all over the place!
The walkway between Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Magic Kingdom officially reopened. The path initially opened in 2020 to give guests another way to travel to Magic Kingdom, but all the construction around the resort caused it to close in February 2023. Now, though, the walking path is open again. We checked it out on the Magic Kingdom side and decided to take a stroll over to the Grand Floridian.
Sign pointing to the walkway.
We followed the sign to take the walkway to the Grand Floridian. The path is nice and wide, but we wish it was a little more shaded — that Florida sun is INTENSE!
Here we go.
It’s a pretty walk, though, and something to do on a day when it’s not too hot out. You’ve got a nice view of the Seven Seas Lagoon off to the side!
It’s a pretty walk
The walk is about a mile from Magic Kingdom’s security checkpoint to the Grand Floridian Hotel. We estimate it takes about 15-20 minutes at a regular walking pace. Of course, you could just take your time and enjoy the scenery, too.
It’s a pretty walk
There are also plenty of lamps if you’re worried about walking at night — there should be plenty of light! The gate at the main bridge locks (closing the walkway) around an hour to an hour and a half after Magic Kingdom closes, so keep that in mind.

Of course, you don’t HAVE to walk if you don’t want to. You can still take a boat or the Monorail to Magic Kingdom if that’s what you prefer. (It would certainly save your feet the extra steps!)
We’ll keep you updated on all construction at Disney World and how that affects things around the resort, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Let’s face it — Walt Disney World is expensive. It’s no secret that your admission tickets to the theme parks will take up a huge chunk of your upcoming vacation budget. If you’ve recently priced admission for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and/or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you know why we’re focused today on helping each other find discounts!
Beginning May 23, 2023, you can purchase a Four-Park Magic Ticket valid for admission June 1 through September 23, 2023. (Blockout dates are July 1-4 and September 1-4, 2023.) 4-Park Magic Ticket costs $421.74 per person (age 3 and up), tax included.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
This is not really a discounted Base ticket, but it does save money for folks who plan to visit each of the four parks for one day with no hopping, since the regular 4-day Base ticket gate prices are $484.67-$673.34 for adults and $465.91-$654.31 for children. It can be purchased from Disney starting May 23, 2023.
All regular Walt Disney World tickets, including Base, Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus tickets of 3 days or longer are $21.30 less (tax included) when purchased in advance directly from Disney online or over the phone (versus buying them at Walt Disney World ticket booths, guest services locations or Disney hotel desks).
In order to qualify for Florida Resident ticket and annual pass discounts, you have to show proof of residency such as a valid Florida driver’s license or Florida state ID card, showing a Florida address. These tickets and passes are also controlled using a biometric finger scan, to prevent them from being transferred to non-Florida residents. Disney has the system down to a science — trust us, you really can’t buy or use these tickets unless you actually live in Florida!
Disney World Theme Park Ticket Cards
For a limited time, Florida residents can buy these special 3-day and 4-day tickets, which allow you to visit for one day here and there May 16 through September 29, 2023. Blockout dates are May 26-29; July 1-4 and September 1-4, 2023. Theme park reservations are required.

Disney salutes the military!
Active duty and retired military, DOD civilian employees and their dependents qualify for discounts on Walt Disney World tickets. The savings mainly come from not paying tax (6.5%).
Disney has the right to check ID at the gate. Military personnel may bring in non-military guests with the military discount as long as they accompany the non-military person(s) and at least 50% of the group are qualified for the military discount (i.e., active duty, retired, DOD and dependents). If military personnel purchase tickets and give them as gifts to non-military users that they will not be accompanying, they risk having the recipient denied entry and the tickets confiscated.
Discounted military tickets are available through your local base MWR/ITT office. The prices and the exact passes that are available will vary from base to base.
Corporate, Government & Other Membership Discounts
Employees of large companies, major government agencies, or large membership groups like unions or professional organizations (typically those with 200-plus employees or members) may qualify to purchase discounted Disney World tickets, regardless of whether the company has any direct relationship with Disney.
Disney has in recent years cut back substantially on its corporate discounts, so in most cases the prices are no better than the prices available from resellers. But if you work for a large company, it’s worth checking just in case. Remember that most vendors add taxes and fees at the final checkout, so look at the final price, not the teaser price that they list initially.
Magic Kingdom’s Parking Entrance
Tickets are typically offered through private websites operated by various ticket suppliers such as Tickets at Work and Working Advantage, which exclusively service large organizations. A password is required to access those sites. Check with your company or organization’s benefits department to find out whether your company participates and how to get the password.
Select Walt Disney World Park Hopper passes are sold at some CAA offices. The price of Disney tickets purchased in Canada is adjusted periodically to conform to the current exchange rate, so at times it may be possible to time a purchase to benefit from a sudden change in the exchange rate.
There are two Walmarts in Kissimmee, not far from Walt Disney World, each of which offers a ticket center within the store that sells discounted multi-day Disney World tickets.
Walmart
The Walmart locations do not carry every ticket type. You have to buy the tickets in person — they will not mail them. We recommend calling ahead to confirm prices, hours, and availability.
Students, faculty and staff at University of Central Florida can purchase One Day, One Park Disney World tickets at a significantly reduced rate. There is a limit of 2 tickets per 30 days.
The American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) is subdivided into regions, with each region having a different independent affiliated club. Each regional club offers different attraction tickets. Some offer discount Walt Disney World tickets; some don’t. Some don’t have discounts, but offer a free bonus of some kind with the order, and if that bonus has value to you, that can be worth considering.
EPCOT
Usually, you’ll find that clubs in the southeastern US, especially driving distance from Walt Disney World, are the most likely to offer discount tickets. For the very latest information, you should always call your local club or check their web site to see what they offer. Obviously, you will need to be a member of AAA to get these discounts, but in many cases, a club in one region will allow members in other regions to take advantage of their discounts. It never hurts to ask!
Most of the time, the big Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) like Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Priceline, etc. sell Disney World tickets at full price. Every once in a while, one of them will offer a special deal on one or two tickets as a come-on, to get people to come to their site and hopefully book other things. The tickets available on sale can change from day to day (or hour to hour), but it can be worth checking these sites to see if they have a deal on the specific ticket you want.
Our favorite people over at Small World Vacations are ready to help you save time, headaches, and best of all, money, when you book your Disney trip or cruise.
