When it comes to Disney home decor, we know that there are some strong opinions.
Disney home decor
While some Disney fans may be okay with having popcorn buckets on display and walls full of Minnie ears, others want to be a little more discreet with their nods to the mouse. And that’s totally okay! There are plenty of ways to decorate low-key with Disney decor, and one of the best is with a Disney-inspired rug.
Ruggable is known for having fandom-inspired rugs and mats that tend to be on the inconspicuous side. And right now, the site is having a big Memorial Day sale! You can get up to 20% off sitewide by using the code MD23 at checkout.
There are several great options available for Disney fans, including this Toy Story Terrene Vintage Rugwith nods to the film hidden throughout. You can spot symbols for Woody, Buzz, and even Pizza Planet if you look closely!
These rugs are pretty customizable, and you can order them in a variety of sizes as well as different “pile” levels and with different types of cushions. Get one now while it’s on sale!
If you want something a bit more feminine, there’s the Minnie Floral Multicolor Rugwith “hidden” Minnie Mouse heads. This one is a tad more on the “obviously Disney” side, but it’s still chill enough to go in your living space.
It has a soft pastel color scheme and it’s decked out in pretty florals. You could also get this one in the “rosewood” color, which is a bit more on the pink side.
They’ve also got something for Star Wars fans! Ruggable has an entire collection of rugs and doormats inspired by the movies and tv shows, including this Grogu Trellis Sage Green Rug.
And finally, we’ve got a SUPER design! This Marvel Damask Charcoal Rughas hidden superhero faces and symbols throughout. You’ll only notice if you look close!
You can order this design in charcoal, stone, or sage green. The muted colors won’t draw too much attention, but you’ll still be repping your favorite film franchise right in plain sight.
Those are some of the rugs you can get on sale right now! We’ll keep you updated if more discounts are announced or if we find more great Disney merchandise deals.

And when it comes to streaming some of our favorites from the Disney media library, Disney+ seems to be the best place to go. So why is Disney streaming struggling?
Disney owns so many media options, now. You can watch the classic Disney films and Disney Channel shows, not to mention the libraries from Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, The Muppets, and Fox.
So what happened? When you look at the breakdown, domestic Disney+ subscribers (in the U.S. and Canada) increased from 46.4 million to 46.6 million, and international subscribers (excluding Disney+ Hotstar) increased as well. With Disney+ alone, the subscriber count went from 102.9 million to 104.3 million. Not a huge increase, but an increase nonetheless.
The main problem area is with Disney+ Hotstar (only available in international markets). The service lost 6% of its subscribers in the past quarter, dropping from 61.3 million to 57.5 million total. So technically, no losses from Disney+ directly in the domestic markets, even though the overall number has decreased. As far as ESPN+ and Hulu go, both of those services are up in subscriber count as well, with 24.9 million and 48 million, respectively.
Why are Disney+ subscribers mad enough to cancel their subscriptions? Let’s look at some factors.
The first factor could be Disney’s political stance. The trend to cancel Disney+ and Disney World in domestic markets has originated from people who are expressing their frustration with Disney’s views. And this comes from both sides of the political spectrum. There is the conservative side that expresses concern that Disney is using its media platform to promote a “woke” agenda. And then there is the flip side of the coin, with communities feeling that Disney has failed to adequately or openly include LGBTQ+ representation or the stories of other marginalized peoples.
Turning Red Preview
In this same vein, Disney Plus also provides limited content for audiences beyond America/Europe. There’s the problem that Disney Plus doesn’t really cater to Indian or Southeast Asian audiences, which is the largest market for media consumption. When families don’t see stories that reflect their culture, communities, or families, then that appeal will likely decline, as we have already seen.
The second factor is also the rate of new, unique content releases. Though Disney Plus continues to release shows every few months, many of them have not had the draw or popularity of The Mandalorian or Hawkeye. Series and shows like Extraordinary, Willow, and Limitless with Chris Hemsworth are not the subscriber drivers, or even user retainers Disney needs them to be. If people don’t believe they’re getting value for money, they’re more likely to cancel their subscriptions.
The final factor is the price tag. The ongoing cost-of-living concern means consumers are being more careful about what they spend their money on. Last year in the UK, two million people canceled their subscriptions to streamers, including Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney Plus. With people tightening the purse strings, streaming subscriptions are falling across the board.
We got some interesting quotes from that Quarter 1 earnings call as well. Bob Iger noted that they “can’t get growth without growing subscribers, but we’re looking to grow quality subscribers that are loyal.” Iger also noted that they’re looking to “lean more into our core franchises and our brands” and “rebalance marketing of the platform versus marketing of the programs.” It looks like we’ve got some changes on the horizon!

Between the day that the news broke back on May 18th through May 25th, new bookings were temporarily paused. Then, on May 26th, Disney opened up its Star Wars hotel booking availability to anyone. The final voyage for the Star Wars Hotel will be September 28th-30th, 2023, though that date sold out before booking was open to the general public.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
Fast-forward to May 26th — the first new booking day. Things were…chaotic, to say the least. A voyage on the Galactic Starcruiser can only be booked over the phone, and the phone lines were very busy. When we tried calling the Starcruiser-specific phone number, the call wouldn’t go through. We couldn’t live chat on the website, either! If you want to book a stay, good luck; it’s pretty challenging!
Ouannii
Throughout the day, we kept our eyes on the calendar to see if any more dates sold out. Well, it turns out that the ol’ FOMO principle is strong with Star Wars fans because SEVERAL dates have already sold out. Take a look at all those blocked-out dates!
Turns out all it takes is the threat of an impending closure to prompt new sales, huh, Disney? As of now, only four dates are still available to book, including May 29th, May 31st, June 4th, and June 12th. Keep in mind that things could change if people cancel their reservations, but for now, the calendar is filling up FAST!

UPDATE!
As of 5:25PM ET on May 26th, the availability calendar seems to have DISAPPEARED from the Starcruiser website. Though pricing information remains, along with Disney’s message about them experiencing a “high call volume” for bookings, the calendar that once displayed the remaining available dates is gone. It’s possible that all dates have sold out but that has not been officially confirmed yet. We will watch for updates and share information with you as we get more details.
Keep in mind that even if all dates are currently sold out, some availability may open in the future if there are cancelations, so you’ll want to continue to watch for updates there.

We will continue to keep our eyes out for additional updates. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more!

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will permanently close after the final voyage on September 28, which quickly sold out after the closure announcement was made. Bookings closed temporarily but reopened today. Guests waited in hours-long virtual queues to book their final trip to the stars.
It’s very unlikely more availability will open for the experience.
Will you be on one of the final Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyages? Let us know in the comments.
More About Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened in March 2022 at Walt Disney World. The experience starts at nearly $5,000 per cabin and offers a three-day, two-night immersive “Star Wars” adventure on a fictitious cruise ship where guests become part of a conflict between the Resistance and the First Order. It includes an excursion to Batuu (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios), themed meals, and live entertainment, including a climactic battle for the galaxy.
This month, Disney made the surprise announcement that they’d be closing their themed hotel aimed at immersive storytelling permanently after only one year and a few months of operation. Starcruiser has been burdened since before its opening, shrouded in financial troubles, budget cuts, high prices, low occupancy, and inconsistent levels of satisfaction when individuals compare what was delivered with what was initially promised in conceptual stages. Above all, the struggling resort was prohibitively expensive for the vast majority of potentially interested guests, with costs exceeding multiple thousands of dollars for a brief, two-night stay.

The quickstart rules for the upcoming Star Wars: Unlimited trading card game have leaked online and we have the details. (If you don’t want to see any of the rules yet, stop reading now.)
These are just the quickstart rules and more comprehensive rules will be released later, but this outlines the basic gameplay and provides a look at some of the cards.
Star Wars: Unlimited Trading Card Game Overview
Here is the overview of the Star Wars: Unlimited trading card game from the rulebook:
Star Wars: Unlimited is a trading card game in which each player takes on the role of a leader—an iconic Star Wars character—who rallies their forces into battle to defeat their opponent’s base. These forces are represented by a 50-card deck containing units, events, and upgrades.
The game is played over a series of rounds. During the action phase of each round, you’ll play cards from your hand and use these cards to attack your opponent’s base and units. Then in the regroup phase, you’ll draw cards, build up your resources, and ready your units for the next round of battle. Early in the game your leader will affect the battle passively, but eventually they’ll join the fray as a powerful unit.
Winning the Game
Each base starts the game with 30 HP (hit points). If you deal enough damage to the enemy base to reduce it to 0 HP, you win the game.
Star Wars: Unlimited Setup
Here is how to set up the game using the two-player starter set.
The starter contains two decks: Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Each player chooses 1 of those decks to play. Separate the double-sided leader, base, and token cards from the other 50 cards (with the Star Wars: Unlimited card back). Take the 2 playmats and set them up facing each other—they contain helpful rules reminders and indicate how to lay out your cards.
Put your base into play, facing your opponent’s.
Put your leader into play below your base, horizontal (non-unit) side faceup.
Randomly determine which player starts the game with the initiative, and give the initiative counter to that player. Set aside all other counters and token cards, out of play.
Shuffle your deck. Draw 6 cards from your deck to form your hand.
You may take a mulligan by shuffling your entire hand into your deck, then drawing a new hand of 6 cards. You must keep the new hand. Strategy Tip: We recommend taking a mulligan if your hand contains no units that cost 1 or 2 to play on the first round.
Choose 2 cards from your hand and put them into play facedown near your base. They are now resources—you will use resources to pay for cards you play during the game. When both players are ready, start the game with the first action phase.
Your leader card will be Luke or Darth Vader with the starter decks.
When building your own deck, the aspect icons of your leader card and base card determine the colors of your deck. For example, Luke has the Vigilance and Heroism aspects.
A deck can’t have more than three copies of any card.
Star Wars: Unlimited Gameplay
As previously announced, the gameplay is split into phases and is a little different from standard trading card games.
Action Phase
During the action phase, players go back and forth taking 1 action at a time. The player with the initiative counter goes first, then the opponent takes an action, and so on until both players have “passed.”
These are the actions available:
Play a card
Attack with a unit
Use an action ability
Take the initiative
Pass
Play a Card
Cards have a cost in the upper left corner. To play a card, reveal it from your hand and pay its cost by exhausting that many resources (see “Ready & Exhausted”). For example, to play a card that costs 2, you must exhaust 2 of your resources.
There are 3 types of cards that you can play: Units, Events, and Upgrades. Each card type has different rules when played.
Ready & Exhausted
Units and resources enter play exhausted (turned sideways), then become ready (turned upright) at the end of the regroup phase each round. Many cards must exhaust in order to be used. Resources exhaust to pay for the cards you play from your hand. Units exhaust to attack or use certain abilities (indicated by an [arrow] icon). An exhausted card can’t exhaust again until it’s ready. Some leaders (including both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader) exhaust to use their action ability. When you deploy your leader as a unit, ready it, even if it was exhausted before. This means it can attack the same round it’s deployed.
Attacking with a Unit
Attacking is the primary way to deal damage to the opponent’s base and win the game. You can also attack enemy units. A unit must be ready in order to attack. Only 1 unit can attack in a single action. To attack, follow these steps in order:
Exhaust the attacker and choose what to attack. You may attack any enemy unit in the same arena (ground or space) as the attacker, or you may attack the opponent’s base directly.
If an enemy unit in the same arena as the attacker has Sentinel, it must be chosen as the defender unless the attacker has Saboteur.
Any abilities that are active while the unit is attacking, including Raid, become active at this time.
If the attacker has Saboteur, defeat all Shields on the defender.
If the attacker has Restore, heal damage from your base equal to its Restore value.
If the attacker has any On Attack abilities, use them now.
Deal damage. If your unit is attacking:
a base, it deals damage equal to its power to that base.
a unit, the attacker and defender simultaneously deal damage equal to their power to each other. If either unit has damage on it greater than or equal to its HP, it is immediately defeated.
Use an Action Ability
Some cards have Action abilities. These abilities often have a cost that must be paid in order to use them, found in brackets after the word “Action”. This cost may include resources that must be paid and exhausting the card. If you can’t pay the cost, you can’t use the ability.
An Epic Action is an action ability that can only be used once per game.
Take the Initiative
Only 1 player can take this action each round. That player takes control of the initiative counter, even if they already have it, meaning they will go first in the next round. After taking the initiative, you can’t take any further actions for the rest of the action phase. (You are considered to pass for all remaining actions this phase.)
Pass
If you can’t (or don’t want to) take any other actions, you may pass. When you pass, you are considered to have done nothing during your action, and your opponent is immediately able to take their next action. You may still take more actions later in the action phase.
After a player passes, if their opponent passes or takes the initiative as their next action, the action phase immediately ends and play proceeds to the regroup phase.
Regroup Phase
As you can see, most gameplay happens during the action phase. It’s followed by the regroup phase, when the players complete the following steps, in order:
DRAW CARDS: Draw 2 cards from your deck.
RESOURCE A CARD: You may choose 1 card from your hand and put it into play facedown as a resource, or you may choose not to put down a resource and keep all of your cards in hand. (The player with the initiative chooses whether to put down a resource first, followed by the other player.)
READY CARDS: Ready all of your exhausted cards in play, including units, resources, and your leader. When both players have readied all their cards, play proceeds to the action phase of the next round.
Star Wars: Unlimited is targeting a 2024 release, with three additional decks coming per year to keep things fresh.
