Oscar-nominated Rob Marshall, known for his work with “Chicago” and Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” directs “The Little Mermaid.” The remake stars Halle Bailey as mermaid princess Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian the crab, Awkwafina as diving bird Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Noma Dumezweni will portray the new character Queen Selina, Eric’s mother.

The full trailer debuted during the Oscars, and a teaser trailer was released in April. Alan Menken, who wrote the score for the original 1989 “The Little Mermaid,” made some lyrical updates for the live-action remake, with help from Lin-Manuel Miranda.

“The Little Mermaid” will be released in theaters on May 26, 2023. Bailey and Jodi Benson, who voiced the animated Ariel, united at the film’s premiere.

This wasn’t the first time that Bailey and Benson had interacted. According to the LA Times, Benson makes an on-land cameo in the film and was on set for the filming of “The Little Mermaid.” Benson was a source of on-set support for Bailey. “She told me how proud she was of me and how I’m handling everything, and encouraged me to just go for it,” Bailey said regarding Benson. “I appreciate her for being so warm and welcoming to me because she’s the GOAT, and it was important to me to get her stamp of approval.”

According to Variety, production on Marvel’s upcoming film ‘Thunderbolts’ has been paused due to the current writers strike.

The movie was scheduled to start filming in Atlanta next month, and will likely resume production once the writers strike ends.

‘Thunderbolt’ will bring together the worlds of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ ‘Black Widow,’ and ‘Captain America.’

The cast will include Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and more. They will all be reprising their Marvel characters in the upcoming movie.

As of right now, the film is set to be released on July 26, 2024. This, of course, all depends on when the writers strike gets resolved.

The writers strike began on May 2, 2023, thus halting production on many films and tv shows.

‘Thunderbolts’ is a forthcoming superhero movie that draws inspiration from the Marvel Comics team of the same name. This film will serve as a follow-up to “Black Widow” and “Captain America: New World Order”, marking the thirty-fifth entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fifth production of Phase Five.

The cast and creative team behind Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” include Jake Schreier, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava/Ghost), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova). Eric Pearson (“Black Widow”) will write.

Regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently said that “there’s 7,000 characters, there are a lot more stories to tell.”

Beyond the six phases currently announced, there’s room for even more growth with characters not yet introduced. And though there are no current plans for a specific Young Avengers project, there are plenty of young characters lined up for the potential superhero team.

Marvel Studios Vice President of Production and Development Stephen Broussard recently expressed interest in “digging into the darker side” of the franchise with more projects like “Werewolf by Night” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

Are you going to see ‘Thunderbolts’ when it arrives in theaters July 2024? Let us know in the comments below.

During the week, I caught this clip on Instagram and simply had to share it with you. As a former tap dancer, this one sparked something in me that made me go looking for my old shoes. It’s the little things that resonate with me, and this clip ticked the box.
