These Are the Best (and Worst) Days of June to Buy Disney Genie+
Summer is about to kick off and we’re already looking ahead.
There are a lot of big things happening this summer at Disney World. EPCOT will still be hosting its Flower and Garden Festival through July 5th and then on July 27th, it will kick off the International Food and Wine Festival. It was also just announced that there will be a new restaurant opening this summer at EPCOT. So as we look forward to summer, let’s talk about Genie+ and when is the best and worst time to buy it in June.
Genie+ Pricing
Going to Disney World is already expensive and paying for Genie+ can just be too much. While we don’t know the exact price of Genie+ before the day of, we can make some estimations on when it will be lower and higher in price.
We know that Genie+ is priced based on demand and when crowds are higher, typically we see higher prices for Genie+ like during Spring Break when we saw Genie+ reach $35 per person.
When crowds are high, wait times increase and you could spend a lot of your day waiting in lines. So you might be tempted to pay for Genie+ even when the price is high so that you can get more done. In the same way, you might not need Genie+ when it’s cheaper because the waits aren’t as long. Only you can decide what is best for you and your family, but we are here to give you some resources to help make that decision.
Ticket Prices
We can take a look at ticket prices to see when it might be busier in June. You can see below that single-day tickets are currently ranging from $134-$149 before taxes in June. On June 1st and 2nd, since the price is $149 it might be a popular day to visit and we could see higher crowds on those days. If you are visiting during the week on a Monday-Wednesday those days are cheaper so we could see lower wait times.
Days You Might Want Genie+
There are also some special events happening in June that could bring in some crowds. For example, June is PRIDE month, and many guests come to Disney World to celebrate.
June 18th is Father’s Day and families might travel to the parks to celebrate. It might be a good idea to get Genie+ on this day if your family doesn’t want to wait in line for hours.
On June 14th, Garden Grill is reopening for breakfast so we might see higher crowds at EPCOT that day. If you are planning to be at EPCOT that day, you might want to consider Genie+. We also don’t think Genie+ is always worth it at EPCOT as it doesn’t have a lot of rides that utilize the system.
Reasons to Not Get Genie+
There are plenty of reasons to not purchase Genie+. If you are staying at a Disney hotel, you have access to some extended park hours like Early Entry, and if you are at a Deluxe Resort, Extended Evening Hours. During these times, hotel guests are able to ride attractions and can get through a few of their must-dos. If you are able to utilize these, you could skip purchasing Genie+.
In June, EPCOT is holding After Hours Events and this is a separately ticketed event where guests can have access to the park after normal hours. Wait times during these events are usually lower and you could plan on doing this instead of using Genie+. Hollywood Studios is also hosting After Hours Events on select nights.
Only you can decide what is best for your trip, but we hope these resources help you make that decision easier. For more Disney tips and tricks, be sure to follow us at DFB.

A Popular Character Meal Has CHANGED at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
We’re pretty passionate about Disney dining here at DFB. It is in our name, after all!
But there’s nothing like sitting down to a meal in Disney World with some of our favorite characters. From princesses in Magic Kingdom to Safari Mickey in Animal Kingdom and more, there’s probably a character meal out there for just about anyone. And today, a popular Hollywood Studios character meal has changed!
At Hollywood Studios, the absolute icon that is Minnie Mouse hosts parties all year round! Minnie’s Seasonal Dine takes place at Hollywood & Vine and depending on the season, your character meal will have a different theme! You’ll find the characters all dressed up in costumes for fall’s Halloween Dine, a festive Holiday Dine at the end of the year, a tribute to the Silver Screen at the beginning of the year, and characters get all dressed up for Spring during Minnie’s Springtime Dine!
But today, Hollywood & Vine is celebrating Minnie’s Summertime Dine! You’ll find Minnie all dressed up in some tropical vibes…
…plus a ton of delicious eats available during this buffet-style character meal! Pricing is $59 per adult and $38 per child during lunch and dinner. In the past, we’ve enjoyed the Cowboy Caviar-esque cold Bean Salad…
…and the Crispy Asian Tofu was probably our favorite dish of them all! Check to see what’s on the menu during your visit. Right now, there’s no end date for Summertime Dine, but we expect we’ll learn more if and when Disney announces the dates for Halloween Dine later this year!
If you’re looking for Playhouse Disney Characters, in the morning there is also the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine Breakfast where you’ll find characters like Fancy Nancy, Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and Roadster Goofy during this a la cart meal. Breakfast costs $27 per child and $42 per adult.
We’ll be looking out for more Disney World food news that might help you plan your trip, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!

New Merchandise for ‘The Lion King’ Now Available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We found a new line of merchandise celebrating “The Lion King” at Mombasa Marketplace in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Simba Adult Tee – $34.99
This striped adult tee shirt has a repeating pattern of Simba peeking over a ledge. Geometric vertical lines in blue, yellow and white surround the playful cub alongside an asymmetrical green horizontal stripe. The tag has an African sunset with a baobab tree silhouette.
The baobab tree has a nickname of “The Tree of Life.” Its bark and fruit offer over 300 life-sustaining uses, and it is the basis of many Indigenous remedies, traditions and folklore.
The iconic The Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom is a 145-foot tall sculpture of a baobab tree. It has over 8,000 branches of different sizes and about 102,000 artificial leaves. Over three-hundred different animals are carved into the sides and branches of the tree.
Miniature Backpack – $24.99

It features Simba, Timon and Pumbaa in front of an embroidered orange sun. “Hakuna Matata” is also embroidered along the bottom of the front pouch.
The bag is pale blue with tie-dyed straps and bottom.
The interior lining is a matching pale blue with a mesh sleeve.
A tag featuring “The Lion King” is sewn to the inside. Another tag for writing the owner’s name is also attached. A silhouette of Simba is printed beside the dotted lines.
The front pouch has a zippered closure.
Water Bottle – $29.99
This water bottle has a printed illustration of Simba in two poses atop a purple, pink and green geometric pattern.
The bottle has a screw-top lid and features Simba seated within a frame.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened on Earth Day, April 22, 1998. To celebrate the park’s 25th anniversary, Animal Kingdom had special food items, rare character meet and greets, and a merchandise collection. There was also a special 25th anniversary ceremony. Watch our video below.
The Walt Disney World Ambassadors page posted a commemoration on Instagram for the 123 cast members at Disney’s Animal Kingdom who’ve been around to make magic moments and watch the park grow and transform over all 25 years.
Cast members dug up a time capsule buried beneath Disney’s Animal Kingdom 25 years ago. Upon opening this historic relic for the park’s anniversary celebration, various interesting opening day items, trinkets, and technologies were discovered. Disney also shared a letter from the opening team to today’s cast.
A permanent Moana meet and greet opened on April 22 at Character Landing on Discovery Island.
