If your answer to that question is a resounding YES, then we’ve got some great news for you. While you’ll find a Starbucks location in each Disney World park, you’ll likely be met with some pretty long lines. Heading to a Joffreys location in the parks can get you your caffeine fix with a shorter line. And now that summer is here, that means it’s time for new flavors!

Joffrey’s has introduced three new summer flavors that you can grab right now on the Joffrey’s website.

The new flavors include Disney Minnie Mouse Cup of Paradise, Disney Mickey Mouse Summer Morning Blend, and Disney Mickey and Minnie S’mores Adventure.

The Cup of Paradise has notes of sweet coconut crème and fruity pineapple, the Summer Morning Blend is described as balmy, and the S’mores Adventure is flavored coffee sizzling with toasted marshmallow, sweet graham cracker, and chocolate flavors.

While we haven’t seen these flavors in the park just yet, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for them and let you know if we spot them. Ever had a vacation with friends or family totally RUINED by rain and bad weather?

Rain, Rain, Go Away

You know the feeling — your socks are totally soaked and squishy from the water they’ve absorbed (yay), your umbrella is a useless stick that’s been blown askew by the wind (awesome), and the outdoor activities you had hoped to try are canceled (joy). If you experienced a trip like that and left it feeling defeated, frustrated, and wishing you could have gotten your money back, we have something you need to know about.

Entrepreneur has shared some details about a service called Sensible Weather and it will PAY YOU if it rains on your vacation — for REAL.

Here’s some background. Sensible Weather was founded by Nick Cavanaugh (he’s also the CEO). Cavanaugh had worked as a climate scientist and consultant. As a whole, Sensible Weather is meant to be a “climate risk technology company that aims to change the way people interact with the weather by making the unpredictable more predictable.”

The key service at Sensible Weather is their “Weather Guarantee” which gives YOU some financial protections against weather issues that could ruin your trip.

Here’s how it works. First, you’ll book a trip through one of the travel platforms that has partnered with Sensible Weather. You’ll see the “Weather Guarantee” at checkout. You’ll be able to see the cost and add it to your trip price (like travel insurance).

For now, Sensible Weather only has a limited number of partners. Two in particular that stand out are in Orlando — Coco Key Water Resort and Exploria Resorts.

Here’s a look at the rest of their partners per their website. You will NOT find places like Disney World or Universal on their list of partners, so don’t expect to add on this weather guarantee for your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. But it could be helpful for trips to other spots.

In terms of the pricing, Cavanaugh has explained that they underwrite based on “weather and science around weather probabilities.” That’s part of what dictates how much coverage will cost for a particular trip. The Weather Guarantee often costs around 8-12% of the total trip cost.

Once you’ve paid for the service and are out on your trip, Sensible Weather will be working in the background to watch the forecast. If bad weather is heading your way, you’ll get a text message about it.

Once they know that the weather is changing, you’ll get notified and reimbursed. There’s no need to file a claim. All you’ll have to do is watch for the reimbursement and transfer the funds to the account you want.

How much you’ll get reimbursed and what conditions actually trigger a reimbursement will depend. Cavanaugh has explained that if you purchase a rain guarantee the Company basically outlines conditions for reimbursement that will say “if it rains for this long, if it rains for this much, we will pay you back.” 

You won’t have to tell the Company how much it rained. They’ll know how much it rained based on their climate software. But the number of hours of rain needed to get you a reimbursement is subject to locale and seasonality. In places that are naturally wetter, people may be more tolerant of rain on their trip. While in drier places, they may not be tolerant to any rain. Sensible Weather adjusts the threshold of rain needed for reimbursement accordingly.

So far, Entrepreneur reports that the response to the service has been positive. Customers enjoy those preemptive payments. They don’t have to sit around for a payment. Instead, Sensible Weather reaches out to them. As Cavanaugh explains, they can tell the customer “Hey, it’s not going to be a great day. We want to put some money in your pocket.”

And on the travel partners’ side, they get to enjoy fewer complaints if bad weather does hit.

Again, the service is NOT available for trips to Disney’s theme parks (or Universal) at this time, so you’ll have to deal with that weather without financial reimbursement. Remember that during severe weather periods, some outdoor Disney World rides may close — you can see a FULL LIST of the rides that typically close here.

Some things you’ll want to be prepared for include potential flooding, the swap from the traditional parade to a rainy day parade, and larger lines and crowds at indoor locations/shops/restaurants/rides/shows as people flock to spots where the rain won’t impact them.

And don’t forget that while these things can happen with your regular afternoon storm, you’ll also want to be prepared for hurricane season if traveling to Florida.

This year begins the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company and we are celebrating! What’s your morning pick-me-up?

Do you like an iced coffee in the morning?

At Disney World, you have plenty of options when it comes to coffee. You may want something hot or maybe an iced beverage. Are you team Joffrey’s or Starbucks? We found out about a new flavor that you might want to consider for your morning cup of joe!

Starbucks has announced a new blend of coffee called the Green Apron Blend created by their very own baristas!

This blend has notes of Honeybell Orange and Graham Cracker and is made from coffees sourced from Latin America and Africa. Also, with every purchase of this coffee, Starbucks will contribute funds to the Caring Unites Partners (CUP) Fund, a program designed to offer grants to eligible Starbucks employees during challenging times.

It is available now and you can purchase it from the Starbucks website. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more new blends when they come to more Starbucks and food news, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

A new complimentary “My 1st Visit” button featuring a Minion is now available at Universal Orlando Resort.

The blue button features Stuart, a one-eyed Minion, celebrating below the words “My 1st Visit.” The Universal Orlando Resort globe logo is in white to the side.

For the last several years, Universal Orlando Resort has only had two complimentary buttons available: a birthday button and a general celebrating button. Team Members often wrote “first visit” on the orange celebrating buttons.

For now, these new first visit buttons are only available at guest services — we picked ours up at guest services in Universal Studios Florida. The birthday and celebrating buttons are available at stands and merchandise locations throughout the parks.

Minions are taking over Production Central at Universal Studios Florida and turning it into Illumination Avenue / Minion Land. A new sign for Minion Land was just installed.

Illumination’s Minion Land

Illumination’s Minion Land at Universal Orlando Resort will be opening this summer with a variety of new eateries and attractions for guests to enjoy.

The land will take over Production Central, transforming it into Illumination Avenue with a new Minion Café (replacing the former Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Café) and “other surprises inspired by popular characters from Illumination’s blockbuster franchises.”

The back of the Transformers: The Ride show building has been painted teal blue to match the new land. As seen in the above concept art, “Illumination” will be added to the wall.

The attractions will be the pre-existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and brand new Villain-Con Minion Blast. The façade of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem was recently refurbished.

Read more details about Villain-Con Minion Blast, which will be a moving walkway and shooting ride where Shrek 4-D once was. It won’t have a height requirement and guests will be able to track their score in the Universal Orlando Resort app.

In addition to Minion Café, food and beverage locations will include Freeze Ray Pops, Bake My Day, and Pop-A-Nana. At Pop-A-Nana, guests will be able to get banana-flavored popcorn and Minion-inspired popcorn buckets.

Bake My Day will serve cupcakes, macarons, and s’mores. This venue will also feature a selection of Minion-inspired merchandise, including apparel, plush, drinkware, accessories, keychains, and more. Freeze Ray Pops will have a variety of colorful popsicles inspired by Gru, the Minions, and Vector.

Preview the Minion Café menu, including Despica-bowls, Bob’s Teddy Bear Chocolate Cream Puff, and more.
