While Disney World is known to many as a smorgasbord of delicious and unique food, eating at Disney World can be tricky for those with dietary restrictions or those who are simply seeking plant-based options.
What’s your favorite Disney World snack?
If you eat plant-based, finding locations at Disney World with plant-based options can be a struggle. Rest assured, though — there are so many tasty plant-based options if you know where to look. Not only do we have a FULL GUIDE to plant-based dining, but we’re always trying new options in the parks that serve as tasty alternatives to beloved Disney foods. Now, we’re talking about two choices for you plant-based eaters who are seeking quick and tasty theme park food. Let’s go!
Both of these plant-based food options are found at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, and both are from quick-service restaurants, so you don’t even need to make a dining reservation in order to grab these two items. These are the Plant-based Bratwurst and Tots from The Friar’s Nook and the Plant-based “Cheese” Pizzafrom Pinocchio Village Haus. Let’s try them out and see if they’re worth grabbing!
Plant-Based Bratwurst and Tots from The Friar’s Nook
First up, let’s try the brat! We were a bit hesitant to grab this snack. You see, in the past, this brat was served on a regular hot dog bun with a small cup of sauerkraut on the side. This was a massive downgrade from the brat on a pretzel bun that we were so used to having. (Before it was a hot dog bun it was a pretzel bun.) It stayed this way for a LONG time, and when we compared it to the brat on a pretzel bun at B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. in Disney Springs, we seriously thought someone was playing a cruel prank on us. So, imagine our surprise when we received a brat on a PRETZEL BUN at Friar’s Nook recently.
Plant-Based Bratwurst
The first thing we noticed about the return of the pretzel bun was how much longer the pretzel bun is than the standard hotdog bun. This wasn’t an issue though, because we were able to fill it with the sauerkraut that was served on the side along with some mustard.
Bratwurst with Sauerkraut and mustard
We aren’t kidding when we say the pretzel bun makes all the difference in the world when it comes to the flavor of this snack! The pretzel bun takes the snack that we would only grab in the event of an emergency to something that could be a first-choice meal for us.
You can never go wrong with tater tots!
This is something we’d definitely get more often now, and it’s a great choice for vegan and plant-based eaters that are visiting Magic Kingdom. As long as there’s a pretzel bun involved, we definitely recommend this snack.
Plant-Based “Cheese” Pizza at Pinocchio Village Haus
Next up, we’re trying the “cheese” pizza at Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland. This is a regular pizza topped with tomato sauce and plant-based cheese. Let’s give it a try!
Plant-based “Cheese” Pizza
Now, we won’t accuse this of being a microwave pizza… BUT — it did remind us a whole lot of a microwave pizza. The cheese is made by Follow Your Heart, which is one of the easier brands to find at the store. When melted, the consistency tends to be more like warm cream cheese and is gooey in a way that dairy cheese normally isn’t. This cheese was no different and unless you’re used to it, you might find it difficult to stomach.
A slice
We doctored ours up with red pepper flake packets and barbecue sauce, but because of the thin, chewy crust… it’s safe to say our gag reflex was triggered. It had a VERY unsatisfying texture. Maybe if it had a crispier crust like that of a flatbread, we would have liked it more.
Plant-based “Cheese” Pizza
We wouldn’t recommend this pizza to anyone. It made us gag. Skip unless you know you like this cheese. No questions asked.
We’ll continue to keep you updated with all the latest Disney food news and updates, including reviews of plant-based options! Follow along for more!
He died on Sunday, May 21st, 2023 in Italy, Deadline has reported.
Stevenson was known for his roles in dozens of television shows and films, including Disney-related projects from Star Wars and Marvel.
The actor played the voice of Gar Saxon in Star Wars series The Clone Wars and Rebels, and was set to join the cast of the new Disney+ series Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson.
Stevenson also played Volstagg in the Thor films. Born on May 25th, 1964 in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Stevenson began his acting career in the 1990s and went on to be cast in several different roles.
The Walt Disney Company recently held its second-quarter earnings call for fiscal year 2023, and we learned a TON of updates about park revenue, Disney+ subscribers, and more. Disney also shared an update on the $5.5 billion in spending cuts that were previously promised, but we hadn’t learned more about potential layoffs on the horizon. Today, the third round of layoffs began according to Deadline.
When the layoffs were first announced, Iger said, “The difficult reality of many colleagues and friends leaving Disney is not something we take lightly. This company is home to the most talented and dedicated employees in the world, and so many of you bring a lifelong passion for Disney to your work here.” He then offered his thanks to those who would be departing the Company.
The first two rounds of layoffs focused heavily on the entertainment division of the company, both in the parks and on the media side of things. The third round of layoffs seems to affect no particular division of the company. For the most part, Parks and Resorts still remain mostly unscathed. Further, television, which took a massive cut in the last round of layoffs, only received a very small number of layoffs this round.
This is expected to be the final round of significant layoffs with around 700 employees affected, but Disney could always surprise us. Of course, there may also be smaller rounds of layoffs in the future as well.

DO NOT PANIC. WE REPEAT: DO NOT PANIC. Okay, you can panic a little. There has been a celebrity sighting at Disney World that might just make your jaw drop.
Cinderella Castle
We’ve seen a decent number of celebs make their way to the Most Magical Place on Earth — from Michael Jordan to Peyton Manning. But, on May 22nd, 2023, one person spotted a Disney celebrity in Magic Kingdom that might REALLY make you jealous.
The photo was of a celebrity sighting in Disney World. What celebrity? Well, it was THE KEVIN JONAS IN THE FLESH. It looks like Kevin was taking a stroll through Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom. (AND THE JONAS BROTHERS FANS WENT WILD.)
THE KEVIN
It could just be the angle of the photo or maybe just our interpretation, but it sure looks like Kevin is looking longingly at some of the food being held by guests nearby. Grab yourself some chicken strips, Kevin, it’s important to eat when in Disney World!
Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe Chicken Tenders
Why Kevin Jonas was at Cosmic Ray’s specifically is a mystery we’ve yet to solve. Did he simply want some chicken strips and fries (nothing wrong with that!)? Was he passing through to listen to the musical stylings of another incredible pop star — THE Sonny Eclipse? Was this just a stopping spot on the way to his next attraction or snack? What about the rest of Kevin’s family? We have so many questions.
Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray’s
To be totally honest, if Kevin Jonas were to ask us to join him for a culinary adventure at Magic Kingdom, Cosmic Ray’s likely wouldn’t be our first choice. The pop star vibes of Sonny Eclipse ARE definitely a compelling reason to visit this restaurant, but given the choice, we think we’d take the Jonas Brother to have his taste buds ROCKED by some of the delicious creations at Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen (and we’d TOTALLY ask about that secret menu).
Spread from Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom
For a quick service option, we might recommend Columbia Harbour House — snag an upstairs table in the nook overlooking Liberty Square below and you’re REALLY in business.
Then, we could hop on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover together to top off a perfect day. Excuse us as we go imagine what meals we’d like to share with each of the Jonas Brothers in Disney World. Do you think Joe is more of a DOLE Whip or LeFou’s Brew person?
P.S. The Jonas Brothers will be playing some shows in Orlando later this year (in October) so you could see them in the area around that time (or you might just want to interrupt your Disney trip for a concert experience).
The moral of the story here is to keep those eyes OPEN when you visit Disney World — you never know what celebrities you might spot! And maybe always have an invitation ready to take said celebrity to lunch at Cosmic Ray’s.

We all love Disney souvenirs, right? But what about our wallets?!
Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom
When you’re strolling through the parks, you can find all kinds of merch to bring home. You’re sure to come across loads of Minnie Ears, popcorn buckets, and some more creative ones like Magic Shots! But, sometimes we come across ones that are just out-of-this-world expensive like the $79,000 Spaceship Earth we saw in EPCOT. We just found one in Magic Kingdom that’s a whole lot more reasonably priced, but still begs the question if it’s a good buy or a terrible financial decision.
When you’re walking down Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, right before you get to the Main Street Bakery for your Starbucks fix, you’ll find Crystal Arts, home of some beautiful pieces of crystal artwork. We spotted this Disney100 trinket box, and guys… we were struggling!
You guys…please help me find the self control to NOT spend $125 on this #Disney100 trinket box — I am STRUGGLING right now! pic.twitter.com/z3qleesjx4
Seriously, come on Disney. Do you have to tempt us all the time with something so pretty and sparkly? Oh yeah, and it’s part of the limited-time 100th anniversary! It’s probably a mistake not to buy it, right?!
100th Anniversary Trinket Box
It is priced at $125 though, so let’s give it some time before we make a decision on buying it or not. And while we’re thinking about it, there are always more items in Crystal Arts that we’ve spotted previously like this crystal Cast Member Nametag for $85 or…

…$149 for this cup and saucer for your next afternoon tea party.

There are so many more finds at Crystal Arts, so next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, you might want to stop by. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news and more!
